Did anyone else here have high blood pressure before their pregnancy?
I'll post on the parenting board too for women who have gone through the whole pregnancy, but I'd like to get info about how pregnancies have gone when the mom had high blood pressure before the pregnancy. I was on 2 medicines for high blood pressure and one medicine for high triglycerides/cholesterol. A specialist took me off one of the hbp meds and the cholesterol medicine until I see the OB in May. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have high cholesterol (never have taken meds) and low blood pressure. I have lots of the good cholesterol so things are balanced out. My cousin's blood pressure would always rise when she was at the OB but when she had it taken at home it was normal!!!

I had been diagonised as hypertensive a couple of years into IF treatment. It was not unusual for me to have readings of 160-100 at the RE's, and about 130-90 at home. I have been on a beta blocker for two years.
I am at 16 weeks now and so far, it seems to be going well. The preg hormoned caused my BP to drop, and it is around 100-70 at my OB appointments. I have been put on baby aspirin twice a day and will probably be on it up to 30 weeks. I am still on a low low low dose of beta blocker, which we will probably withdraw around the 20 week mark. It is my understanding that prior HBP will not harm a pregnancy if properly treated Durga

I have high blood pressure. I had same with my first pregnancy and was on bedrest from my 4th month of pregnancy until my C-Section. I have been on both Aldomet and Procardia since my first pregnancy. The Procardia in my first pregnancy was prescribed in the second trimester. Currently, I am on Aldomet and have stopped taking Procardia due to the fact that my RE said it was not safe in the first trimester. I most likely will be put on it again once I get in my second trimester.

I had high blood pressure also. It was found after my 2nd round of Clomid. The doctor said it was still high for "white coat syndrome", 142/90. Doctor didn't put me on drugs, but told me to diet and exercise and she would recheck me in three months. I took three months to get healthier. My cholesterol was 249, the good low. I lost 16 pounds and ate better and really watched my salt. Started clomid again after a natural period, and got pregnant. The next time my BP was checked was at my OB's, last week and it was 130/80. Which was good considering I was soooo nervous and not feeling so good. My doctor said maybe it was a good idea to get a home BP monitor just in case. I'm really trying to not worry, because that might raise it. But so far I'm doing ok. Potassium helps with BP. Still watching my salt. Good luck!
