Is it a coincidence or does pg cause vericose/spider veins?

My legs are looking atricious these days! I have had very light spider veins for a few years, but in the last month or so they have become very dark and ugly.

Is it a coincidence or does pg cause these things to happen???

Looks like my days of wearing shorts are coming to an end! Thanks

sigh....this is one of the "joys" of pg.

FYI-a good dermatologist can zap a little thing into the and they will go away. I had a spider vein on my face when I went through puberty--at 16 years of age this is completely tragic . I had it "zapped" it was pretty painless and it disappeared completely.

Happy gestating!

Yuppers, pregnancy sure does. Maybe it's because your bloodvolume increases by almost 50 %. I would imagine the force of pushing all that extra through your veins would cause them to burst.

All I have heard from my OB is to, when you can, sit with your legs elevated , ideally above heart level, to help combat it some. And yes, they can be zapped later.

Here's to a healthy baby at the end!

Thanks ladies!! I guess I can thank each of my daughters for bringing these special things to me-- the first gave me terribly sagging boobs, the second seems to have made the wrinkles on my face drastically worse than they were before, and now this one is gifting me with disgusting veins!

We'll see if dh will fork over the $$ fix all of these things when we're done. Of course it's all worth it

No coincidence, pregnancy can cause them. As a matter of fact I have them in (of all places) my vagina lips. Very yucky!

Ugh, I have been dealing with these for weeks, and they seem to have gotten 10 times worse in the last few days. Mine are all over my calves (say goodbye to capris and shorts). I was told by OB to lay w/ my legs elevated whenever possible, and to wear Futuro support hose when I can. Also, increase your fluid intake to 80 oz. a day. And yes, I plan to go for the saline injections--my ins. covers it.

to bebe--I am very impressed. I can't even see my vaginal lips, but now I'm freaking out that I have spider veins there!

Good luck to all!

My veins are nasty too! My sister said hers went away after she gave birth. I am hoping mine will too.
