Anyone else have constant dry cough/cold that won't stop??

Sorry to be a whiner, but you gals know how it is when you are pg and can't take any meds, etc. I'm so frustrated. Dh and I haven't slept in the same bed in over 2 1/2 wks (at least I get to spread out and make more room for belly! lol!)

First he got this virus thing, then I got it. I've had this for 2 wks now. Started with sore throat then lost my voice for a wk. My voice is finally back but I can't stop the cough. Last night for the 3rd night in a row I had a coughing attack in the middle of the night and could not stop. Of course everytime I cough I pee so at 2:50 a.m. I cried myself to sleep--partly because of wanting to sleep so badly and not being able to stop and partly because I kept peeing! Anyone have any suggestions? I was so close to taking a cough suppressant, but I know the pharmacist said I can't take while pg. I just feel sorry for the baby (and myself!) having to put up with the coughing all the time.

Just wondering if anyone has any remedy info?

Thanks!
SaraAnn

Oh boy can I relate!!! Back in Dec I had a cough that went on for almost a month!!!!!! I finally got rid of it and then my dh and dd got it only to give it right back to me!! Thankfully it didn't last quite as long the second time around though. I was so miserable and my poor little baby probably didn't get any sleep.....I know I didn't!!! You might want to check with your OB, but most will ok Robitussin. I took the Robitussin caplets only because I absolutely despise the taste of cough syrup and knew that I would vomit if I had to drink it. The caplets worked ok but I am sure if I would have taken the syrup it would have worked alot better. Good luck.....I know what you are going through!

I can relate! I was nauseous until 15 wks (on meds for it) when all of a sudden the nausea disappeared, and a cold appeared!!! I hate to tell you, but I'm almost 35 wks, and still fighting the cold off. I have had a cough and/or runny nose for almost 20 wks now. I think mine is partially asthma related, though. I was just put back on my asthma meds, and the cold seems to be going away...

UGGGG, I can relate.. I went through that in the very beginning of my pregnancy. It lasted over a MONTH!!! Just what you want to hear i am sure. Now i have it again,, My chest hurts to cough because it is that dry cough!! You dont have to suffer (to much anyway) you can take robitussin and you can take cough drops. Not that they helped me much.. ITs hard cause during pg your immune system basically sucks so it is so hard to get rid of things once you have them!! I dont hardly sleep so I can relate to that! GOOD LUCK!
