When did you stop meds?
I know this has been asked before but I cannot find the thread. So if you do not mind repeating, could you please tell me when you stopped meds?
I am 8w5d and my RE wants me to stop meds by tomorrow. I have cut down as he said to but just cannot bring myself to stop the meds. I am hoping to hear a heartbeat at 10 weeks and then stop. Am I stupid for going against my RE? I know he knows what he is doing but all I can think about is something happening to the baby because I stopped taking the meds. (2 prometrium and 1 estradiol daily) Thanks ladies you have always been so kind to answer my questions. Debi 8w5d EDD 10-10-05 21 month old precious son

I was on PIO and estrace til 10 weeks. Then weened off them during week 11 and 12. I believe that this was generally later than everyone else (based on reading the prior thread, which actually freaked me out because I was on them so long). This is probably because I did a FET cycle. If you went through a fresh IVF, the RE would have told me to stop a couple weeks after seeing the HB (around 8-9 weeks). I would say to do whatever the RE says.

I weaned off during week 9 and was done by the start of week 10. I think you can follow your RE, as I believe your body should make enough progesterone and estrogen on your own by week 8. Some REs just play it safe and let you go longer. I also agree that it may differ whether it was a fresh IVF or a FET... (I did two blood test to check hormone levels as I weaned - one at 9 weeks and one at 10 weeks to make sure I had sufficient levels.)
Good luck!

With my dd, I starting weaning off of the progesterone at around 12 wks and was completely off by 13-14 wks. This time, my RE wanted me to continue until 12 wks, but I ran out of progesterone at 11 wks, and couldn't find a pharmacy closer than an hour away that carried the suppositories, so I stopped at 11 wks.

Thank you for your replies. I am going to talk with my OB this afternoon about stopping but do think I will in the next couple of days. Maybe I can get blood work done to see hormone levels. They were quite high at 5 weeks so I wonder what they will be like now.
Since weaning from the meds my m/s has all but stopped. I kind of felt more comfortable with it. Ya know? At least until I hear a heart beat which we will hear today. Debi 9 weeks EDD 10-10-05 21 month old precious son |

My re wanted me to continue the prog supp up til 10wks, but I as soon as I stopped the 1/2cc I basically stopped the supp. My number's were really high, and I just stopped them. I was so sick of it. I don't think I have hurt anything, I go for my ob appt on Thursday.

I was on PIO's until I was exactly 10 weeks. My Re said that the placenta is fully formed by 10 weeks and is by then producing its own hormones.
