Migraines - what is safe to take?????
Last pregnancy I did pretty well and didn't have many horrible headaches but this time I have had two bad ones and I am only 13 weeks. I am using tylenol and caffine but it isn't doing much. Are there any more helpful drugs that are safe to take? I took Tylenol with Codene once late in my last pregnancy but I don't know if that was ok because I was so far along or if it would be ok for the REALLY bad ones even earlier on? I will talk to my doc about it next appt (or sooner if my head doesn't let up in a hurry). Thanks for any input, this is miserable!

Sorry you too are getting hit with migraines.

I've dealt with more migraines this pregnancy than I did with my ds. Sorry you're going through that! My dr. said that I could have tylenol with codeine (I was at 16 wks at that point). Unfortunately I'm sensitive to codeine & can't take it, so I have to suffer through with regular tylenol & ice packs. Talk to your OB for sure. No point in being miserable if there is something that is safe for the baby.

I get terrible migraines when I'm pregnant too. My doctor prescribed me demerol, but it doesn't do anything. I am almost 12 weeks, and my OB has now given me the okay to take tylenol with codeine. He said that it will do nothing to the baby (in my case, babies..twins), but the only precaution is not to take them every day. I hate taking them, but he said not to feel guilty if the migraine is that bad. They help me to cope with the pain until the migraine leaves. Which is sometimes a few days.

I am so sorry. I have had the same problem my entire pregnancy. When I feel a migraine coming on I take stadol, nose spray. It really works. Talk to your doc about it. It is very similar to demerol but it is a synthetic!!!
