Packing for college!

16 days till we drop the boy off at his dorm, YIKES!

So how much stuff should he bring, he has alot of clothes but I don't think he will have room for everything and the more he has the longer he could put laundry off so I want to pack just the right amount. KWIM? But what is that?

I'm thinking 2 weeks worth of clothes so 5 pair of pants, 16 undies, socks, tshirts? A few sweatshirts, 2 pair workout shorts, 2 pair regular shorts cause I doubt he will need them much in Tacoma Wa. His bath robe, a pair or 2 of sweats for lounging in, light weight rain coat and a few hoodies.

I'm also not sure about his bedding, I bought a mattress pad with a built in mattress topper thing that is really nice but noticed that it is dry clean only. It was $50 and he may not even think to wash it and I'm not sure what would happen to it if he did wash it. I could get him a sparate mattress pad and mattress topper, the mattress pad would be washable but the foam topper wouldn't be. For me I would probably do the 2 separate things cause I could wash the mattress pad but like I said would ds even think of washing it? What would you do for a male teen?

What about towels? 3 large bath size and 6 or so hand towels?

My hope is that he will maybe wash bedding/towels one weekend and clothes the other weekend so would need enough stuff for 2 weeks.

He's only 2.5 to 3 hours away and we can mail stuff if needed.

I lived in a dorm for 8 years. I always had tons of stuff. My nephew will be a college sr this fall. He's living with us this summer. He came straight here from college last spring. His car was absolutely packed with stuff. Clothes for class, clothes for sports, clothes for going out, clothes for that special presentation in class, clothes for church, etc. Not sure how much bedding or towels he has. Are there 4 seasons where he'll attend school? We always needed sprong/fall jackets plus winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, etc. It's nice that he will be able to come home to get anything he still needs. I was a 12 hour car ride from home when I was in college.

Mrs.H he'll be in Tacoma WA so basically one season, rainy and cool with occasional nice days LOL
