    Insane Hair Loss

    Hi Ladies,

My hair started to fall out in handfuls. It actually started 2 months after LO arrived. I was warned by my OB that all my luscious hair will fall out after I give birth. Well, when she said fall out, I thought fall out. I didn't know it would be handfuls and handfuls. I feel like I am going to go bald!

I know it is inevitable as the hormones in my body has changed since giving birth. Any tips or advice to make them fall out less or better this?

I am thinking maybe it's time to get my hair chopped off....

It does fall out, and I don't think there is anything you can do about it. I wore my hair back for a good six months anyway, and barely even had time to look in the mirror..lol...so I didn't really mind.

A good easy hair cut makes sense at this stage though.

Once your hormones start to even out, it will get back to normal. If you are finding big patches, then I would call your ob, I don't know if that is normal.

Yikes! I am so sorry you are going through that. As if new motherhood wasn't enough. I say opt for a cute cut and just run it by your doctor so she is aware.

It may be that your thyroid is not functioning properly. Have them test your levels. I lost so much hair too, I know it's scary.

Thanks ladies. My hair is super long....it's almost down to my bum. I haven't cut or trimmed my since I got pregnant and now with LO here, I didn't have any time to do anything. I've been putting into a bun to keep my hair out of my face and hers. So I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that my hair is super long and I feel more hair is falling out - DH thinks this is the case. I don't have any bald patches. Just a lot of hair falling out when I wash or comb through.

I'm searching for a cute short summer cut right now!

Hmm...I wonder if it got thicker during pregnancy and is adjusting back? Not sure if that happens, but it seems like a logical explanation to me

I had long thick hair even before pregnancy so I believe it got even thicker and longer during pregnancy. I always had sad ponytails...it never stayed up because my hair is so thick and heavy.
