Hi there,
We are kicking around going to San Diego are this summer. My kids are 4 1/2 and 2 1/2. We plan to do Legoland for sure. We will probably only have time for one other day of something to do.
My question is, are we better off going to the water park next to Legoland the 2nd day or doing Seaworld? We did Seaworld and the zoo 2 summers ago, but my son was only 2 1/2 then and my daughter was only an infant. Which is better for that age, in addition to Legoland? I think we plan to skip the zoo this trip.
What do you think??? How far is Legoland area from Seaworld? If we do Seaworld are we better off staying by Legoland or Seaworld for a hotel? Looking for any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks!!

You might be able to get a second day at Legoland pretty cheap, it was so long ago that we were there I don't know if a second day would be good though. I don't know if I would pay the adult admission (for the adults) for a water park for 2 kids so young. My son choses SeaWorld over places like Disney so we would probably chose SeaWorld. What about a hotel with a nice pool and some time at the beach?

The drive is only around thirty minutes between the two places, and there are some good hotels in both areas. You may enjoy the Coronado area as your home base. Legoland is awesome for the ages of your children. You have been to Seaworld, so you already know that much of what is really great to see has to do with sitting or shows; if your little ones are up for that I say go for it. My boys' personally did not really love Seaworld until they were about 5 1/2, but they loved the zoo. You know your kids the best, and I am sure you will make a good choice. The Scripps/LaJolla area has a really nice, small aquarium. It is very inexpensive and they have tanks where they can touch sea stars and other sea creatures plus lots of great fish to look at. That might be something you would enjoy. But, Legoland for sure. We had a season pass and they never got tired of it. It is also clean and nicely spread out.
Have fun!

We loved going to Cabrillo National Monument and then exploring the tide pools. Hours of free fun!

We went recently with our 5 year old to Legoland. We have done Sea World and the Zoo 2 years ago. So, we stuck to Legoland - if you have a warehouse membership (costco etc) they have good deals for 2 day combined passes to Legoland, Legoland Waterpark and Legoland SeaLife Aquarium. I highly recommend that you spend 2 days in Legoland as it is great for the ages of your kids - and you can see it fully. We spend half a day in the waterpark (lots of fun) and half a day in the SeaLife aquarium and one day in Legoland. It was just enough time for us to go through all the rides and exhibits. We stayed in one of the big hotels adjacent to Legoland and they had complimentary shuttles drop off and pick us up (go online and pick one of the good hotels in Carlsbad and you are all set). There are outlet malls, great eating places and the Flower Fields (they are great, but seasonal) near Legoland. Also check the calendar on Legoland's website before planning your trip because the water park will be open all days only on summer vacation and it is open only on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in May. Have fun!

I second Cabrillo National Monument. DS was 4 when we were there and we had to go back a second day because he didn't get enough of it. He was so enthralled with the lighthouse we couldn't get him out of it.

We go to San Diego often to see family. We can't seem to get past beach time. My girls love the sand no matter what time of year. My girls are near your kids ages...4.5 and 2.5. We think we will do the zoo this summer when we go again to my SIL. They loved the aquarium! That was fun. My friend takes her boys to legoland often and he oldest is 5. He loves it.

We did Legoland, SeaWorld and Wild Animal Park (near Escondido) when my boys were 4yo. I think we did Legoland 2 days because it was like $5 more per ticket or something cheap like that. We stayed in Carlsbad (very close to Legoland) because we were staying at the Four Season Timeshare Villas at the time. It was a nice area. We took them to the beach too, which was close to Carlsbad. The drive to both SeaWorld and the Animal Park weren't terribly far.
