    Tetanus shot...armpit pain....ouch. Someone help?

As many of you know, my beloved kitty, Josie, died on Wednesday morning.
As the poor thing was dying, she bit me HARD. She must have been "out of it" - we're not even sure if she could see, as she lost function of her back legs, lost bladder/bowel control, etc. The vet told us that it was most probably a stroke/blood clot.
    Anyhow, I digress.
I had to go to the doc and get a tetanus shot, he also put me on 14 days of anti-b's.
My arm is KILLING me. Under my armpit is throbbing with pain...is this a normal reaction to this shot? Holy moly. The doc warned me that it would hurt, but this is unbearable. I am taking Motrin, which is only helping a little bit.
    Any help?

Not really swollen, just very sore, like a bruise, except there's nothing there.

Weird. I was gonna say maybe call the MD if it was swollen. Not sure now. Maybe alternate Tylenol with the Motrin and see if that helps?

    Hope it feels better soon!

It hurts quite badly at the injection site. It was hot, swollen & hurt like hell. Sore for at least a week or 10-days.

No armpit pain, though.. not that I remember.

I got one about 3 years ago when I cut myself on the bandsaw at work--cutting pork chops. I couldn't sleep on that side for about a week.

Yes, she bit me on the same arm. But the bite itself has now morphed into a huge bruise - it's not really hurting me any longer.
Oh, I'm also on Antib's (Augmentin) for the bite for 14 days.
I can't feel if lymph nodes are large under the armpit, because quite frankly, I am fat. And I feel fat. And that's it. Fat.
Last night I took Motrin twice thru the night. I am calling the doc tomorrow when they open.
I did Google it, and it seems that the pain can be a reaction that is not necessarily normal, but it does happen.

My suspicion is that you probably have swollen lymph nodes that you can't feel from the cat bite. It's good you are on antibiotics. I would definitely follow up with your doc. I was thinking cat scratch fever but it looks like that would be more like 10 days out.

The Tetanus shot really hurts a lot. I got one a couple of years ago and was really surprised. It's nothing like an innocuous little flu shot.
