How do I get rid of a junk travel trailer? And do I need a title?

So my dad has this 1965 travel trailer that is junk and is sitting at the lake property 2 1/2 hrs from here. I just found the title and it is in his name only. BIG UGH!!!!! It is worthless. I don't want to send worthless through probate. C'mon! So, can I junk it? If so how? Do I need the title? Who do I call? I'm so sick of my parents' estate I could scream.

Google the trailer type and see if there is a club. Airstreams, for example, have a major following. They get bought for parts, vintage interior fixtures. "Canned ham" types have vintage clubs too. Check Ebay for similar types. Try craigslist and freecycle too. It probably has a serail number or vin number on it somewhere. One of the club sites usually has hints for where to look on the vehicle. If it has a license plate, you can do a search through the state dmv for info. Interview family members to try to get a history on it. Was it bought from a friend?
You may need a title to junk or donate it. Or you could give it to one of your sisters. (Just hint that it is worth something) LOL. Good luck, M

I would offer it free on craigslist. Someone will come get it. Give them the title, tell them you don't know "what" to do with it. Let them figure our how to get it into their name if they want to.

I would offer it under the RV section on Craigslist for free. Let someone else haul it away and deal with it. People can be very good at fixing stuff like that up or salvaging parts from it.

Would their be any legal ramifications if it is still titled in my dad's name and then they found the trailer dumped somewhere with something illegal in it....drugs, dead body, whatever? Guess I'd do a bill of sale for $1 and that would cover us.
