Anyone with children 10+ and late losing their baby teeth?

My oldest son will be 11 in December and he's only lost about 8 of his baby teeth. He didn't get his first one until he was after a year old though so I don't know if that makes a difference or not. We noticed the other day that one of his adult teeth are growing on top ( coming in crooked) in between two of his baby teeth. His teeth are perfectly straight other wise and he has a dentist appointment in a week. I'm hoping that he can pull those two baby teeth and have his adult tooth straighten out but I don't know. Anyone have any experience with this? TIA

Both of my children were late in loosing their baby teeth and the dentist even had DS xrayed for growth development problems - turns out they were both fine. The dentist said that the later they loose them the better it is for when they get older as they tend to have stronger teeth.

My almost 11 year old has only lost 6 teeth so far. So far there are no worries. She didn't get her first tooth until 11m and didn't loose a tooth until beginning of 3rd grade!!!

My 9 1/2 year old has also only lost 6 teeth so far, but she has had a palate expander/orthodontics started.

Shawn's preschool teacher told me the same thing. The longer the baby teeth stay in the healther adult teeth are. There were children in Shawn's 4 year old class already losing teeth!!!!

Shawn seemed to get his teeth early. He had 4 teeth when he came home at 9 months. He is 5 1/2 and not even a loose tooth yet.

DS is almost 9 years old and he has lost maybe 8 teeth. He was at the end of 1st grade before he lost his 1st tooth, lost some more in 2nd grade, and in 3rd grade lost 1 or 2 teeth. Most of his classmates had lost their teeth much earlier and had gotten permanent teeth way before him. His dentist just says they are precocious-LOL!

My girls have lost a lot of teeth, but I myself had 4 baby teeth pulled when I was 12 or 13 because they weren't falling out (I needed braces so they didn't want to wait much longer).

My dd is 13 and she still has 1 1/2 baby teeth left. 1 broke in half but the other half is still there. She has full braces and the Orthodonist and Dentist are waiting to see what happens. My dd does not do pain well!
