how to keep yogurt cold in your kids lunches

i packed the kids a trix yoplait yogurt yesterday and maddy said hers was warm even though one of those ice packs were in her lunch box. i thought i read somewhere that you can pop them in the freezer the night before and they will thaw by lunchtime. true? thanks for any help

Yogurt is already sour milk with cultures, so warm by lunch will not hurt anything. If she prefers the taste of cold yogurt, you can freeze it.

I used to just put them right in the freezer, if they aren't totally defrosted by lunch time it's kind of like ice cream

I freeze them. If it's room temp at lunch time it is still edible.

Another option I like to do is to freeze gogurts, they're thawed but still cold by lunchtime!

Try it at home first if you freeze it. I did it...took it out and put in his lunchbox at the time I normally would and then had him try it at the time they would eat lunch.

It was crystally, not totally frozen and he REFUSED to eat it. Told me not to do this and send it to school because he would not eat it.

DS loves yogurt, but not that way. He is kind of picky, but just wanted to warn you.

It's funny that you posted this thread today! I just sent a couple of frozen Go-Gurts with my kids for the first time. We'll see how they like them.

my kids thought that freezing the night before and putting it into lunch was gross. we tried it before i sent it into school.

now we have yogurt when we get home from school instead, and i send in sugar free pudding which they don't mind at room temp.
