    My Mood
    Confused

OT If you volunteer to make a meal for someone

who is sick, or just had a baby etc, do you make an entire meal or just one big thing like a casserole?

I voluntered to help make meals for our local spouses club, they emailed me and asked me to bring a meal to a lady who just had surgery. I've never done this before, so not sure what people usually do.

I made lasagna, I also included a bag of salad and some breadsticks. I steamed some green beans and was planning to make a desert, but cheated on that one and picked something up at the store.

Does that sound OK, too much? not enough?

    Thanks

i would have done what you did. when my daughter's mom had her baby recently, i brought over a pot full of basil chicken, sent over a bag salad along with three "baby reds" instant mashed potatoes and i prepared peas and carrots with margarine. we sent over drinks and dessert too. it was her 4th baby and i figured she'd need food prep more than anything.

I like to do a complete meal, too. Not required; as a home-cooked meal is wonderful enough. But I remember getting complete meals when DD was born (salad, bread, etc) and it was truly, truly appreciated. So now when I make a meal for someone, I do a complete meal. I also use disposable tupperware and serving pieces, so they don't feel obligated to hurry up and wash it and get it back to me.

I never have done this with American food, but I think the complete meal was a wonderful idea. Whenever I bring food to someone, I think of and bring everything you need for that meal... and they won't have to worry about getting ANYTHING...

You will be blessed for helping out this family..
