Can you freeze bacon? I bought one of those bulk packages at Costco and have not used any yet, it has been one week.

Yes, you can freeze bacon. We have been doing that for YEARS!! Also when we buy a pack of bacon DH will cook it all because he is strict on uncooked meat being in the fridge for more than 2 days thing. It is easier to cook a whole batch of bacon then you have bacon for salads, BLT's, another week-end breakfast, etc... We never have half used bacon in our fridge.

Really? I didn't know that. Maybe it's because I open the package and cook it within a couple of days.

Check the best before date. We usually get cases dated 6-weeks to 2-mos from today's date.. we're putting out bacon stamped BB March 2 right now. If the pkg is firmly sealed (not blown) & the BB date is good, it's just fine. If mine is starting to discolor even a little, I toss it. I'm picky about meat.

Yes, you can freeze bacon. We sell club packs (3 normal packages per net bag) & most customers buy those, toss one in the fridge & the other two in the freezer.

For those surprised by the bacon turning green, it undergoes an evolutionary process. It turns a brownish color & then goes green. Packs of bacon 'blow' (get an air leak) all the time. Sometimes they come in that way; other times (more common) you are rotating product & find a pkg buried under the rest that has blown & is already turning green. It really is gross & no one would ever think to cook it at that stage. The brownish-greenish color is quite gross as well.
