Update on the 7 month old baby boy (FINAL UPDATE ON POST 10)

I had posted a couple of weeks ago that my friend who cuts our hair knew about a baby boy who was being placed for adoption. The BM is her best friends cousin. I spoke to the cousin today and she called the BM and ask if I could call her. I did and was heart broken having spoke to her. Now I have never met this lady. But over the phone she sounded like she was on something. Her cousin told me today that the BM has had 12 yes 12 kids. Some are now adults.

The BM told me that just today she was going to sign over her rights. But she said if we wanted the baby she would not. She was to call her attorney and get back with me but she did not. She is due in court in the AM to sign her rights or possibly have them terminated. CPS does not have the baby but some lady she knows does. This is what she does. She has a baby and gives it to whomever will take it. Most of the time it has been family.

I called a lady that I went to high school with who works for CPS to ask some questions. She told me that it would be highly unlikely that we would be able to get this baby. She said if her right are removed in the AM that they most likely have a line of people waiting to adopt who have already done a homestudy and taking all of their classes. I do understand all of this. I ask if she could give us guardianship until we could complete the requirements and was told no. The lady who has had him since birth does not want to adopt him per BM.

I pray that is sweet baby finds a wonderful and loving home.


UPDATE INFORMATION

I do not know what it make of this. I did not hear back from the BM yesterday. I just figured that the attorney informed her to terminate her rights. Well I just got a call from the courthouse. The cousin called and ask me my full name and that of DH? The attorney stated he needed this information to take into court? Maybe this is just some last ditch effort. I am not getting my hopes up. I hope they do not leave me hanging all day.

I'm sorry. I, too, pray he gets a loving family. It does sound like he would be placed with someone who likely has gone through IF... someone who will love him & give him a good home.

Stacy, I know you've been anxious for a while now about adding to your family.

I'm just being nosey here, so feel free to ignore my questions if they are too personal . I'm just curious as to whether you're on a list and waiting at this point? You mentioned above that there would be a list of people "who had their homestudy done and had already completed all their courses." Have you completed these steps? I'm just wondering since it may give you more of a chance than the CPS woman led you to believe.....

I will be honest that dh is the one who has been unsure of adopting through CPS. We have for several years looking at China and Vietnam. Now both of those programs have either issues or very long waits. I would love to try IF treatments again this time with donor embryo but dh is slow to come around to that too. Yes he does want to add to our family. Maybe Santa will bring me a baby?

I know that God will show the path. I just hope very soon as I am not getting any younger neither is dh.

Well the BM called me several times today. Now remember I have never met this lady. I could tell that she seemed to be on something again today. She gave me the number to her attorney and stated that he wanted to speak to me. She also told me that she told the court that I was her cousin. I told her I would not lie.

I called her attorney. The first thing he ask me was if she had ever ask us for money in exchange for this baby. I told him no that we had never met her and how we knew about the baby. He said that he hoped I did not have my hopes up. I told him no.

He stated that her rights were terminated today because she would not stay clean and that she even came to court today messed up. The lady who has the baby wants to adopt him. She is also raising this baby boy's half sister. I told the attorney that we would never want to take him out of the only home that he has known. Well that closes the book on this baby.

I ask the attorney if he handles adoption. He just started taking some adoption cases from CPS. He ask me if dh and I were interested in adopting thru the system. I informed him that was something we are looking into now. He said he sees these little kids who need homes all day. Told me to call back and he would give me more information and a contact with CPS as he was not in his office at the time of the call.
