This is what I do too, I do it with cans of grease too.

    This works for grease, too?
Do you just let it cool off and put it in a plastic bag?
I don't like collecting the tin cans like I used to, so this sounds great to me.

By the way, we take our trash bag out to the city trash can on wheels we have every night, so I just throw it in there.
    No freezing here...
I don't like it next to my real food, KWIM?
I know, it's just parts of the meat that I ATE already, but somehow it sounds gross to me.

I pour it in a can, then freeze it. It gets hard. Then I put in a plastic bag and toss on garbage day. We freeze the cans of grease at the school too and do the same thing.

We would be In huge trouble if we dumped our trash in city trash cans, or do you mean it is your can down by an alley or something? It is a criminal offense here to dump in any garbage can other than your own.

Color me surprised so many of you are willing to give up valuable freezer space to something you want to throw away!!

I put mine in the outside freezer in the garage, I have three freezers, two are fridge/freezer combos and one is a large stand up downstairs. I can afford the space, beats the smell. Not too often have to use it for a large package, usually just a small can of fat/grease.

if garbage day is far away, I put it in dollar store ziplocs, write GARBAGE on it, and throw it in the freezer. If its that day, I toss it in baggies. a few weeks ago I had a major maggot breakout in the garbage (BLECK) because of one piece of chicken that went funky. I am pretty anal about maggots.. BLECK BLECK BLECK!

That's why I started freezing any kind of meat in the summertime because we had an episode with maggots one summer and I just couldn't handle it. GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

We don't eat alot of meat, so, it doesn't take up alot of the freezer space. I put most of my regular meats in the fridge freezer and I put mega stuff and large items in the big freezer. I just keep a separate section for the garbage stuff and it's not a problem.
