    6 year old and Imodium

Poor Chase - he started having explosive runny poop yesterday.

Today, he ran to the potty again and same thing. Then, he was fine until this evening and he sat on the toilet for 30+ minutes pooping. It was gross and was really upsetting him.

He kept saying "Diarreah hurts mommy! Its not fun! I don't like Diarreah!"

I let him take a warm shower and he had to get out because more was coming.

He has no other symptoms...and is eating good.

So, I looked at the Imodium package and it said ages 6 48lbs, 1 caplet after runny stool. I put one in a little icecream and he swallowed it. First time he has ever swallowed a pill! I think the kid was desperate!

He is only 45lbs...but, he is 6 years old.

Anyone ever do this? How did it work?

I hope it helps him. I have to carry it in my purse as I have IBS and it sometimes hits me out of no where. He can take another one if he needs one. I would not give him any dairy as I know for me it makes it worse. I know you were just trying to get the meds in him. Hope he is feeling better soon. Hugs to you both.

It sounds like he is just a few lbs off from the 6 year old body weight. I wouldn't worry. Adults take 2 at the 1st sign and then 1 thereafter for up to 6 caplets I think. I'm sure 1 caplet won't hurt and it probably helped.

Just keep in mind that if he has any kind of infection, virus, parasite in there, most docs want a patient to get it all out and not take anti-diarrheals unless they are dehydrated or it's a known illness like IBS.

No poop today. And, no other symptoms. I am sure the Imodium will now make him constipated! LOL!
