Do you wear underwear under your pajamas?

Okay, this is a running debate with BIL/SIL and now with MIL/FIL. It was always in fun but last night MIL was watching my dd get into her pajamas and sort of scolded her because she didn't have panties on. DH and I don't wear underwear under our jammies and so neither do our kids. My feeling is that jammies are so comfy that the underwear doesn't serve a purpose, not to mention no undies gives the "area" some time to "breath." However, all my in-laws think so strange of us not to wear underwear. So I'm taking a poll out of curiosity...(and I'm not including a "we sleep in the nude" choice because this is only if you wear pajamas)

My mom's the same as you.. so we never wore undies under pj's. However, when I got older, I had so much cm that I NEEDED undies. Mom had PCOS so too much cm was never an issue with her.. she almost never had any.

With the girls, it is their choice. Emily chooses to wear undies. Alison's in pullups at night still but prefers no undies with pj's.. so she says.

I agree with you, Littlechum... I wear no underwear at night because I feel that area needs time to breathe. The kids don't wear undies at night either. (Well, B is still in pull-ups, but she won't wear undies when she finally decided to train.)

I was watching Oprah a few months back when Dr Oz was covering all those really embarassing topics, and he talked about this. According to him,

You should not wear underwear when you go to sleep. Best to let the little bits breathe.

You SHOULD wear a bra when you go to bed, especially if you are large, to keep the girls in place. (This I agree with because when I was nursing and turned into a D cup, I would wake up in a jolt of pain in the middle of the night because dh rolled on top of one, or I would roll my arm under one).

That said, I still wear my unds under my pjs because I don't change my pjs every night, and so that would be the equivalent of wearing my unds consequetively and that would be gross. However, I do change into cotton boyshorts from the thongs that I wear during the day.

hmmm, If you don't wear unds under your pjs, does that mean you wear a different one every night?

I don't. Tell them not to worry...the kids will probably do like I did and start sleeping in the nude by the time they're 12 anyway. LOL That aughta shut them up.

To me, underwear under pjs kinda defeats the purpose of comfortable sleep.

I can't sleep without undies on, or without socks on. Just way too uncomfortable.

I don't wear a bra to bed though. I am not very big.
