    after pregnancy question

Ok I have a goofy question. I know about losing the weight after pregnancy can take time blah blah blah...That has not been an issue with me. My question is this (kinda embarassed asking it) ...my hips spread after the pregnancy--does that part stay the same from here on after or does it somehow go back to a semi-prepregnancy state? Meaning- do I get rid of 99% of my shorts/pants lol.

    Thanks!

It depends on what you mean by your hips spread. If you are just talking about the weight you gained there, then that can go away. However if you are talking about your hip bones actually having spread, then no, that won't change. Mine wasn't my hip bones, it was my rib cage. I had big babies and hid it pretty well. The way this happened was that my previously very small ribcage expanded about 2 inches. Your hips can and do do the same thing, it's just a matter of to what degree.

It's the main reason my pants do not fit right now. After my first pg they went back to normal over time, so I am hoping they will this time. I'd hold on to the clothes a while

My hips definitely spread as well. I have no measurements to prove it but it is obvious. My girls will be 3 in August and recently my body seems to be settling a bit and I think my hips have gone back some...but not all.

And my rib cage is bothering me something fierce...I need to get that looked at.

My hips and ribcage both spread a lot during my first pg. I had hoped my ribs would stay a little wider as it's hard to find 32 band sizes in bras bigger than an A cup! No such luch. Within a short amount of time, my ribs went back to their old size. I lost all of my pg weight pretty fast and thought that my wider hips was going to be a permanent thing. It wasn't. Around 4 months after I had Finn, they sunk back to just about where they had started so it is possible. Don't get rid of your pants just yet!

My hips were never the same since having kids. I went back to my normal weight, but they were definitely wider. Maybe if I waited more than 2 yrs between kids they would have a chance to go back. I'm hoping eventually they will. I would hold on to your clothes for a while.

I was always told that your hips go back after about 6 months to a year of giving birth. DD will be 2 in October, and I am still waiting. My weight is about the same before being pg, but I can tell a difference in how my shorts and pants fit. Somethings I can wear one size but other a size up. I would wait you never know.
