Need ideas for "dress up like your favorite book character" day at school

I'm just not feeling very creative this month and still trying to get out of feeling funky.

Has anyone done this at their kids preschool...such a cute idea but I'm just not with it right now. We read LOTS of books and honestly I cannot think of one book (well known book) that she could have a costume about. She goes to preschool on M W F and it might even be as soon as Wed(if I find the note ) that I need this by. I was just thinking of getting a princess outfit as she likes the princess type stories and also has a princess bday party to go to later this month. I was thinking she would make a perfect Aerial but that's more of a movie than a book.

I would love and appreciate any creative ideas.

How about a Dr. Seuss character like Cindy Lou Who, is there someone else to dress up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 with? Or more classic like Little Red Riding Hood, Dorthy from the W of O or Alice in Wonderland or Madeline. I would just do something easy, as in based on basic pj's or a dress that she might already have. Animals are easy to do from sweatsuits as well. But the princess idea is great too, since she'd get to wear it again. Have fun with it!

    Princesses are always a hit...

I don't know how creative this is, but...what about pooh characters? Pooh - Yellow shirt, red shirt on top and yellow shorts or pants. Make pooh ears with felt on a head band and you could tack on the letters p-o-o-h out of felt on the front of the red shirt.

Piglet - dark pink shorts or pants and a light pink top with pink felt ears.

Christy (for a girl) Robin - blue pants/shorts and yellow shirt

Eeyore - blue top and bottom with pink bow on her hiney - you could pin her tail to her shirt since Eeyore never knows where his tail is.

Sorry it is all pooh bear stuff...that is what DD was into in preschool.

Connor had this day in January and I jokingly suggested he dress up as Captain Underpants. He declined. He ended up going as a character from a book he read in class called "junk man" or something like that. The guy is made up of metal parts from a junk yard with a toaster for a head. We got some boxes for his head and chest and covered them with aluminum foil and the tubes from papertowels and unwound them and Connor colored them silver and rust colored and we wound those around his arms and legs. He won first prize for best costume. Probably because it was homemade. Obviously so...he dropped pieces of foil and box everywhere!! LOL!

We did have loads of fun making the costume tho. Let us know what you end up doing!

You could buy her a wolf costume and have her go as Max from Where the Wild Things Are.
