Smile I'm new, TTC#1 after a MC, Birth Control Question

Hello Ladies! (sorry this is so long)

I am new to this board, but so happy I stumbled upon it. I want to introduce myself and let you know some of my background.

My name is Brenda. I live in CA, I am 28 yrs old. I got pregnant last December (08) after discontinuing my use of birth control pills after having used them for 11 consecutive years. Well, I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage in Feb. 09 and had a D&C.

Currently I am not ovulating and have not ovulated since May of this year. I had three cycles after the D&C procedure for my miscarriage but they were long (36-44 days) however I was in fact ovulating (confirmed using BBT and OPKS) then my cycles just went haywire. I am no longer ovulating.

I have been diagnosed with secondary infertility since I did manage to get pregnant once. I went to an RE a couple of weeks ago and almost fainted at the prices we would have to pay for tests, medications, doctor visits, ultrasounds, etc. so my husband and I are trying to put away money every month to go back some time next year.

Here's my question. As I left the RE's office she told me I could also try going back on the pill for three months to help regulate my cycles and we could TTC immediately going off the pill since more than likely I will ovulate. I have had two other OB's mention this to me as a cheaper route for the time being and they have referred to it as "Rebound Ovulation" or something. Has anyone heard of this? I will be starting a new pack of BCP's in about two weeks since I am currently on progesterone pills for AF.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Tonishasw, thanks for your reply. Are you going back on birth control too? Or are you already on it?

I dont want 2. I went back on bc in Aug because I had 2 take Hsg test in September. I go to the Dr. thur morning 2 get my test results back. I'm thinkin abt doin acupunture. Me and my dh are both self-employed, so I hope it happens naturally 4 us because we can't afford IVF or IUI. Wat did ur Dr. say abt u not ovulating, and how much is ur ins willing 2 pay 4 ur test.

My insurance only covers 50% co-pay for anything that happens at the RE office, but even then, everything was super expensive so the "cheaper" option was to go back on the pill for 3 months to help regulate my cycles and then we can TTC right after that. My OB said there were no tests she could run to tell my why I was not ovulating...

I wish u luck Daisy, and I will keep u posted on what my Dr. said. I was told bcause I was on BC's for so many yr that it might take years for my cycles 2 bcome regular again. I'm goin 2 ask my Dr. abt Acupunture and see wat he has 2 say. I read the infertility cure, and I'm willing 2 give it a try.

THE INFERTILITY CURE by Randine Lewis. I want 2 try acunputure 1st. I read about Clomid, and I didn't like the side effects. I want 2 try 2 cure my irregular cycles naturally, and its cheaper than IVI, and IUI. Did ur husband do a SA. My husband had 2 take another 1 bcause his motility was low. DId u also take an hsg? It was da worse feelin ever. I was told its better to use saline instead of dye.

I have heard that it might be easier getting pregnant coming off bc pills because you will have had a regular period on it and your hormone levels will be supressed. It's like a blank slate. It doesn't always happen though. I just took a break month on bc pills and my cycle isn't going the way I hoped. I would talk to your dr's office and see if they can offer you any financial assistance. They usually are pretty willing to help.

Did ur Dr. Tell u 2 change u diet? When I went 2 my Re thursday morning, he recommend that I change my diet and lose 10lbs to regulate my cycles. My test came back fine, but my Dh has issues with his motility. Re referred him to an urologist. My Dh was a little upset abt the test results.
