Anyone taking Metformin? I have questions!!!

Hi ladies!!! I am going in tomorrow for my first u/s for my 2nd ivf. I have been on bcp for 19 days now and will find out tomorrow if I can begin Lupron Wednesday! I just received a call from my nurse that my fasting glucose was slightly elevated and she wants me to begin taking Metformin tonight. I am just wondering if this helps prevent miscarriage, side effects, any info. you have that will be helpful. Thank you for your help!!!

Hey Lila,

I have just been on met for about a month now. My dr put me on it after a m/c with the hope that it will help ovulation and help prevent miscarriage. She said there isn't always a link, but could help, and won't hurt.

The side-effects can be less than fun, I initially did a lot of running to the bathroom, but after the first 5 days or so I was fine. If you look on the PCOS board, there is a lot of info, and many helpful ladies. They answered all my questions!

I have been on metformin for 4 years due to PCOS. Each time I got pg mr Re or obgyn said to go ahead and stop it and I did. I had 3 m/c's WIth my last pg I asked my cousin who lives out of state but is an obgyn if I would do any harm staying on it she said no. So I did and I had a healthy baby girl. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but I know for sure I will be on it again when/if I get pg again.
Good Luck

I was also on metformin before I got pregnant and throughout my whole pregnancy without any complications.
