Clomid and IUI

Hi everyone, I really hope you guys can help me here, I'm brand new at this and really scared! I just found out on Wednesday that we have unexplained infertility. The doctor wants to start me on Clomid next month and try IUI. I was just wondering how many of you have been through IUI, did it work? How long did it take? Are you going through it now? I just want to hear someone elses experiences because I'm freaking out about this.

Also is anyone taking Clomid? How do you feel on it? Is it like PMSing or worse? I'm new at this sorry for all the questions! Thank you so much for you help!

Hey there, welcome. I have not had personal luck with IUI but a LOT of people do. My DH has difficulties "giving" at the hospital and my thyroid went wonky for a few cycles so I think that might have more to do with things not working in our case than the IUI.

We have slight male factor and I have some thyroid issues (I joke to DH that he has trouble getting me pregnant and I have trouble staying that way). But I, like you, ovulate on my own. So the clomid is an attempt to throw some better quality eggs or a few more to give more targets.

Clomid is interesting. My "symptoms" vary month to month on it. I have completed 4 months on the stuff. Hot flashed while sleeping seems consistent (I recommend taking it at night because it does make you sleepy and I have only had hot flash once during the day and would rather be at home for that). Two of the months I was SUPER emotional - crying at things, snapping for little to no reason (Clomid moments). Two cycles I swear I could FEEL the ovulation happening. But this round (I have not O'd yet) has been just some twinges and hot flashes.

On those emotional months I just wanted to quit because I didn't like not being in control. It made me too emotional.

So I guess it varies from month to month.

Don't be scared though.

HI!

Well, i used clomid alone and got pg with DD. ( i DO NOT ovulate) then tried it again...no go. So we did a cycle of clomid CD3-7 then inj follistim and hcg trigger and IUI and got pg with my twin boys! We were VERY lucky that our first IUI worked as far as the side effects go..i had MAJOR headaches and some bloating and i was super moody, but honestly it was SO worth it. Good luck!

I've only used one round of Clomid took CD5-9 had NO side effects at all, took mine in the morning. Will try a 2nd round early November. We found out DH's SA was "slightly abnormal" so have that to battle with as well. My doc suggested after 3 total round of Clomid we go for IUI. NOT even thinking about that though...DH is one of those "whatever happens, will happen if its meant to be". So time shall tell .... I've heard more IUI's not working, than working so part of me is not interested in even going that route at all. But then again, it depends on what type of mood I'm in if you ask me too Good luck to you !

I did a Clomid challenge test this month and FSH was within range (sigh of relief). But I produced 3 follies and insisted on doing IUI, which my RE did on day 14.
As to side effects from Clomid, I didn't notice any. Good luck!

That mood swing part worries me a lot! I already PMS so bad that I can hardly tolerate myself most months, I feel so bad for my DH he's going to have to deal with me twice in one month lol.
