Anyone tried Letrozole?
Hi All, looking for some information on Letrozole/Femara. I am 37 and have PCOS. On my 5th cycle of Clomid/IUI 3 years ago, I successfully conceived and had a son.
I have gone back to the fertility clinic and hoping to repeat my last experience. The dr put me on the highest dose of Clomid (250 mg/day for 5 days) and it turns out my uterine lining is not very thick - a side effect of Clomid for some. The dr said this would be my last round of clomid and we can move on to injectables or Letrozole. Honestly, I don't want to do injectables A)b/c of the expense and 2)I tried them in the past & hyperstimulated. I am happy to know that Letrozole is an option - I had no idea. I am wondering what side effects any of you have had on it? Are success rates any different than with Clomid? And last but not least, do most insurance companies cover it? The good news is I just did my Clomid Challenge test and passed with flying colors, so I know my eggs are decent . . . Thanks, Soy PCOS me(37) DH(40) 1 son - conceived with IUI/Clomid

Hi Soy - I used Letrazole for the last 2 cycles. Very few emotional side effects (this month none). Didn't thin the lining like Clomid did and I finally had ok CM whereas Clomid turned it hostile. I only made 1 follicle each cycle which was the downside, but the upside is the cycle was nearly painless and we actually got to try naturally this month rather than IUI. I recommend at least trying it because if Letrazole works for you, it seems like the least painful option (physically and emotionally!) Good luck!

Thanks. Turns out I did one more month of Clomid b/c my lining made it last month. But I'm on day 16 right now and my lining was only 4 as of yesterday so next month I am trying Letrozole (if necessary). I am glad b/c I've been on the highest possible dose of Clomid (5 pills a day for 5 days) and the side effects really got to me this month.
