I'm 26 DH 30

We are going to start follistim and IUI next cycle

Would love advice or success stories.

Child loss mentioned

CHILD LOSS MENTIONED, LIVE CHILD MENTIONED

Make sure you are well monitored on Follistim!

I got triplets from my IUI with injectable medication (first try), sadly I couldn't get to term with them though and lost them, don't feel bad for me though because I now have a wonderful son who was concieved via IVF, which became our only option after our loss (to control how many I would have at once).

Good luck! I know my story is normally the exception to the rule but I think people shouldn't go in blind either.

I second what Julie said. Whether you are a good candidate for IUI depends on your diagnosis and sperm count/morph issues.
I do think that IUI's with injectibles appear to have an excellent success rate for those for whom it is medically indicated. Wishing you a BFP!!!

I'm really nervous ready about triplets and only doing IUI if there are sperm issues. We have unexplained inf. but have been trying almost 4 years. My fsh and LH are excellent. The RE is starting me on 75 IU of follistim. We go soon for IUI. Does anyone think this is crazy? I didn't have success with clomid...

If you know that you don't want multiples, you may want to go to an RE who says he is very good at determining how many eggs develop. You still won't have a 100% chance of not having a HOM pregnancy, though.

Although I'm doing IVF, I did notice that some Dr's say that they have better success at helping to make sure that many extra embryos aren't created. That helped me make a decision as to which RE to go to.

If you can't find an RE who can help you and/or has a good track record of avoiding HOM with IUI, then perhaps you want to consider IVF-maybe micro IVF or eco-ivf, which are both cheaper.

I do think there is a higher chance of multiples when undergoing treatment for unexplained IF. Not to scare you, but the new show on weTV about the sextuplets stars a mom who had unexplained IF and then did IUI with injectibles, I think.

Hope this all makes sense,

iMama, Thank you so much for your replys. My RE is making me do around three ultasounds and blood work be for the IUI. His numbers fall in line with national average and he avoids multiples. I've started this cycle already, which I will complete. I will do more research if it doesn't happen. I go Mon. for the first ultrasound. I looked up micro and eco-ivf and don't quit understand them. I get their cheaper but that's all. Thanks again and I appreciate your help!!

Dub-V-Eers: Micro and Eco IVF use less drugs and sometimes no drugs, so less eggs are available to be fertilized, which leads to less chances of HOM and less unused embryos. They also have a lower success rate, as a result.

That's awesome that your Dr is giving you so much monitoring.

I am wishing you success in your cycle and pray that you get the outcome that you want from your current cycle!
