Question new here with question about late ovulation after clomid cysts

Hello--this is my very first post after debating for awhile whether or not I'd join a chatroom. I really do need the support! From what I've seen so far this sight seems really open and helpful. I am wondering if anyone has experienced super late ovulation after having clomid induced ovarian cysts? Some details about me (I am still getting to know abbreviations in the fertility world so I apologize for the long version for certain things):

I am a 35 yo woman (36 in a few weeks). My husband is 39. We have been ttc for about one year now (no birth control since April 2008), and using OPKs and timing intercourse since 9/08. I've never been pregnant. I've had all of the tests (baeline levels, FHS, Estradiol, HSG, vaginal ultrasound to count follicles). My levels are good, tubes are clear and I was told I had 7-8 follicles on each side of my ovaries. My husband had a successful vasectomy revearsal in April 2008 (hence the no birth control).

Amazingly are RE says that his sperm count is super high and looks like he never had the vasectomy in the first place.! He also had a sperm function test and everything looked goo (no antibodies, etc). Our RE wants us to try 4 IUIs before we discuss moving onto IVF. I had my first IUI in July after a clomid challenge test. The IUI was not successful and I was in a lot of pain after the procedure. When I got my period and went in for the day 2 vaginal ultrasound our RE was very surprised to see 8 cysts on my ovaries, and my ovaries were enormous. He said I had released two eggs. Now I understood why I was in so much pain. I do not have a history of PCOS. My RE was not concerned about the cysts and decided to take me off clomid until they cleared up. We just did our 2nd IUI on Monday 8/17. I didn't get a +LH surge until day 18 and I had the IUI on day 19 (the day I was supposed to be O). This is very late for me as I normally ovulate on day 14 or 15.

Anything you can share about similar experiences or if you had a successful IUI after clomid caused ovarian cysts and/or late ovulation.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to read such a long post. I finally decided that I really do need others to talk to that are in the same boat.

Hi Lunasky,
I'm sorry no one has replied yet, I don't have an answer for you either. I know clomid can make you ovulate later in your cycle, but since you're not on clomid this cycle I have no idea. But, I did want to send you an "ehug." I know how hard this can be. I had one failed IUI and am trying again this cycle. Hang in there and keep posting questions, this can be a great source of information and support.

Good luck to you!

thank you ohjan!

Thanks so much for your reply. I am definitely ready to connect with others who are going through similar experiences. I hope this next IUI is the one for you and your partner! Have you gone in for it yet? I think the late ovulation was probably a combo of clomid and the several cysts I developed on my follicles after the IUI with clomid cycle. I hope there isn't a next time but if there is the plan is to cut my clomid dose in half with an HCG trigger shot. Hopefully that plan won't be needed. All the best to you and keep me posted.

I hope this cycle is successful for you! I had the hardest time during the 2ww, I wish you the best of luck!

I'm doing 150mg of clomid this cycle. I'm only CD 6 so the next IUI won't be for awhile now. We also did the HCG trigger last time. They increased the dose of clomid so I'm hoping that will help improve the odds. I'll be sure to update you later this cycle. Make sure to update on how things go for you too!
