Hopefully a simple question

Does anyone out there know the normal size of your follicles? This should seem simple enough but I can not for the life or sanity of me find this information anywhere everything tells me the size of a mature follicle or during ovulation nothing says what the "base" size is.

My doctor told me the other day that a mature one is considered >18 and that 18 is the minimal size they would accept to proceed.
Hope this helps.

Thank you ladies for your responses. I'm not sure how well I got my point across. I'm asking this question because as many know I have a huge language barrier with my doctor so I can't really play 1,000 questions with him but he's good at what he does. I did Clomid for the first time this month and we are trying to see if it will work to get me to ovulate. I went in 2 days ago to do an u/s (no clue if there were multiple follies) but he did tell me 1 follicle was 10 mm and when I asked if that meant clomid was working communication broke down and we couldnt get each other to understand so I left the question alone. He says for ovulation it needs to be 20 mm but I was hoping to find what size they start out at so I could see if 10 mm meant the clomid was doing something and making a follicle grow. I guess I'll get some more answers today I leave in a few hours for another u/s he wants me to come in every 2 days for an u/s until cd21 feel good to know hes watching me so closely for just using a low dose (50 mg) of clomid and having regular bms with hubby. Heard so many horror stories but this doctor seems to be very on top of things so it more then makes up for the lack of communication he tries but I'm in Korea so I can't really expect a Korean doctor in their country to speak my language fluently. We work with it the best we can and so far so good.

At the beginning of the cycle, the resting antral follicles are only a couple millimeters (approx 4mm) big, just big enough to see on ultrasound. From there, the ones that respond to the stimulants should grow at a rate of 1 to 2 mm per day, reaching a size of 18 to 22 mm at full maturation, where the follicles produced with the help of drugs can grow to the larger end of this range, while naturally produced follicles are expected on the smaller end of this range

So the size depends on which day you look at them.

As I understand it, the purpose of the Clomid is to encourage the production of (hopefully) 1 or 2 or sometime even 3! follicles at ovulation, moderately increasing the number of eggs released during this cycle, but it does not necessarily increase the speed at which they grow.

Definitely ask how many growing follicles are there. My doc was nice enough to print me a "souvenir" photo of mine at the ultrasound, just before the trigger.

Good luck!

well on my first u/s I was 10mm the last u/s I was still at 10mm so apparently they grew to 10 then stopped growing? makes no sence he moved me to every 3 days instead of 2 and said he doesnt think the medication is working but I dont get why they would grow to 10 and then stop? He did raise my chair up to look at each follicle as he measured them there was 2 on the right 10 and 11 mm and there was tiny ones on the left he couldnt see good though that one doesnt like to be seen he has to push alot to find it. He never measured those.
