finally
So I finally was given great news today. The doctor prescribed clomid. This may not seem like much to some of you but its the first chance of me ovulating or something being done for me to get pregnant in 5 years so I'm ecstatic over it. I start taking tonight (CD3-7) and I come back on the 20th. Correct me if I'm mistaken normally with clomid or any of this you come back for an u/s to check for ovulation but he has me coming in 3 days after my last dose of clomid is that to soon to have ovulated? I know I'mjumping the gun here but soo happy to finally have something happening.

I'm on clomid with u/s too. They do that appointment to make sure there is a follicle that is maturing. They can predict ovulation based off of that or plan your HCG shot if you are using that too.

thanks guys... You can double up clomid with an HCG shot?? He told me we would do clomid 3 times before moving on to injectables I didn't think/know you could use both of them on the same cycle.

Holmes,
As another member noted, the HCG trigger shot that one member noted is to trigger ovulation once your follicles are big enough. But to answer your question, yes, you can use clomid with injectables, including "mini-HCG" shots. It is called a combination cycle (at least that's what they call it at my clinic). I am on that right now. 5 days of clomid, and on the last day, I start the Menopur shots. I respond really well to the injectables, so they have me on clomid first, so as to not overstim me. And because I respond so well to the injectables (I have a lot of follicles naturally), all my 30 follicles grow, so I then switch to mini-doses of HCG to advance a few lead follicles and starve the smaller follicles. With injectables, they can manipulate your follicle growth more closely than clomid alone. Downside is that they are a lot more expensive and you do need to go in for frequent u/s (I've had 5 U/S in the last 8 days). When I went to the RE for my initial consultation, I was told about the meds, the stats, etc., and I was given the option of clomid or injectables. Hope this helps. |

thank you all for the information. I think just yet I wont bring the issue up with my doc for the simple fact of not wanting to "spoil a good thing" this doctor is going around korean law and wording things just right so my insurance covers things up front so I think for now I'll just let him do his thing hes done great up til now and see how the clomid works. If it doesnt work or doesn't work as well as hoped maybe I'll print out an article about the combination of the drugs and see his opinions on it. Written stuff may help more because of the language barrier sometimes I have to write a word down or he just types and shows me on his computer. We are finding ways to work great together though which is awesome. At least hes willing to try and shows a lot of bedside manner unlike alot of american docs and u can fully understand them lol. I did just find out from one of the nurses there that the hospital I'm doing my treatment at was just awarded with being the leading medical center in all of Korea by the government so that was pretty reassuring also. And the fact anytime I show up to his room theres a good 35-40 couples there pregnant and waiting for him so he must have been doing something right.
