Hi, I'm new to this...my first post...I don't know all the lingo, so please excuse me!
![]() Anyway, it has been 12 days since my IUI and 14 days since my Ovidrel trigger shot. I also took Clomid & Follistim. Today is Day 25 for me and I'm scheduled for a blood prego test on Day 27. I couldn't stand it anymore this morning so I took a HPT and it showed negative. Could I still be pregnant? My boobs hurt and I've been cramping, but I know these can also be symptoms of the Progesterone I've been taking. Should the HCG from the trigger shot still be in my system at this point? If it's already out of my system, with the test showing negative, any chance I could really be pregnant but my body's natural HCG just hasn't built up yet? Thanks for any help or information!!! We have been TTC for a year & a half after our miscarriage and have unexplained infertility.

doggymom,
look up the dosage of your HCG shot. I read on one thread a while back that HCG leaves your body in halves. So if you injected 5,000 on day1, day 2 would have 2500 in your system, etc. On an IVF clinic site I read that if your HCG was 5000u, it would take about 10 days and if 10,000u then about 14 days to leave your system. The fact that you tested negative leads me to think that your HCG trigger shot is already out of your system. But I don't have other answers for you. In my last cycle, a week after my IUI, I started suffering from fatigue and nausea. I was certain I got pregnant, but I didn't. |

Hi Doggymom,
As far as I understand, yes you could still be preggers and the HCG levels are not high enough yet. I'm in the same boat, this was my first IUI. Today was day 11 and I went ahead and tested at home and it was negative too Same with the boobs hurting & cramping - but I'm on progesterone as well.Anyway...different tests pick up different levels of HCG, some are not very responsive. I read first response is supposed to be the best. But the label says 99% accurate the day of your missed period or later. The fine prints says 69% accurate 4 days before, 83% accurate 3 days before and 93% accurate 1-2 days before. So, long and short of it, definitely could be a false negative and you'll probably only know for sure after the Dr's test. Also, they stressed doing it the first time you pee in the morning because that's when hormone levels will be highest. Good luck to you! I'm still trying to be optimistic myself until Tuesday

doggymom, ohjan,
stay optimistic. I asked my RE about the pregnancy symptoms I had after my last iui (nausea and fatigue - just like I had when I was pregnant the last time) and whether the Progesterone were the cause. He said the progesterone wouldn't cause the symptoms. So the NP said I was probably pregnant but it didn't take. I think they call it a chemical pregnancy, where the pregnancy is ended early. So if you are having symptoms, stay optimistic. Note: The HCG will make your boobs hurt, much like the natural pregnancy HCG would - my opinion anyhow. I took my trigger yesterday morning (5000u HCG) and my boobs feel heavy and super sore today - and I haven't had my iui yet - so I am pretty sure it is the HCG trigger that's causing it. |
