Late Ovulation

Does anyone know if late ovulation will prevent someone from getting pregnant and what may cause late ovulation?

When I first started going to the fertility doc, my ultrasounds were showing that, as late as day 27, I still hadn't oculated and had a horrendously large follicle. The cause for mine was low hormones across the board (low FSH and LH, so no ovulation occurred). I did have one month of ovulation without drugs, but it was due to high exercise (I was running at the time).

Late ovulation can occur, and I was given hCG when I was 21 or 22 days into a cycle, but we had a miscarriage. I was told by the fertility clinic I go to now (due to us relocating) that there is a shelf life to the viability of an egg: the more one holds an egg past day 14 of the cycle, the older the egg gets, and the more likely that the fertilization of the egg will lead to no viable fetus.
