Provera and still no period! Help!
I'm new here and I have a question that I hope you can help me with.
I had a prog. level test done and the doc said I probably didn't ovulate. She put me on 10mg Provera for 10 days, then said to start Clomid 50mg for days 5-9 and to start counting the first day I saw any bleeding. She said the Provera would cause a period anytime from day 1 thru 14 days after I finished taking it. It has been 10 days since I finished taking it and no period in sight! I thought I had some spotting one day but it was so slight that I dismissed it. Is there any way I could be pregnant even though the progesterone test said not likely? If I am pregnant, will taking the Provera be bad? Thanks for your help, this is my first month ttc.

daisymae,
I understand your suspense! I also had to take provera this month to induce my period. Although, I did start after 5 days. I think it is entirely possible that you could be pregnant, have you done a home pregnancy test? Your lab work said not likely right? But it didn't say absolutly no! I would take a hpt and see what that says to start with. As far as it being harmful if you are pregnant, that is a good question, one I had too. I never got an answer, so if I were you, I would call your Doctor and he or she will know. Also, if your not pregnant, there may be something elso to do to get your period to start so that you don't have to spend so much time just waiting, that is the worst. Good luck and be sure to come back and let me know how you make out! PS, do you normally have normal cycles? Do you know if you normally ovulate? +++++++++++++ Jessica |

I have to take provera to get a period as well. The first time I took it, it did not work. I had to take it again. I would wait out the 14 days and then contact your Dr. You should always take a pregnancy test before taking provera.
GOOD LUCK Julie |

My Doc put me on it for 10 days. I think the idea is to build up the progesterone in your bloodstream, and when you go off of it, when your period starts it is actually withdrawl bleeding, and that is how it works. I suppose it would make a difference on the mg of provera you are on, maybe you are on a higher dose, and that is why your only on it for 5 days. You can always call and talk to the nurse if your concerned!
Good Luck! |
