Hi. I have high BMI - no success yet (not the weight as the issue) and preparing for IVF #1 in June I hope if the baseline goes well on Tuesday. I have found that some doctors refused to treat with a BMI over low 30s, others aren't so direct but have an attitude and want to blame weight (I had endometriosis and other issues and a hellish time when I was 130lbs so I know it isn't the weight), others are more open and don't just look at a number but how the weight could affect egg retrieval, anesthesia or things like that. I found an RE who is not sizist - another who was OK as long as a MFM specialist signed off on me because of a myriad of complications I have (weight just one issue and the least concerning) but he couldn't even get me in until July (and that was in January).

As for my story, too much to say - 33, single, and always told not an option to have bio kids so I was pursuing adoption for 18 months only to have that finally come to a halt. I have a history of endometriosis/adhesions, lupus, Factor V clotting disorder (mom clots at 16, me at 21 on BCPs), cervical scarring and a distorted uterus. Now learn a low ovarian reserve as well and on my last cycle for IUI with injectibles, the meds and stressed caused a nice increase in blood pressure but in spite of that and being overweight, OK.

WoW im praying hat everything goes well for you, i really hope that it does. im sorry for everything that has gone on in your past, but keep your head upi know everything will work out!

my history~ when i was 17 i had my right fallopian and ovary removed because of an ovarian cyst the size of a large grapfruit. a month and a half later i became pregnant and gave birht to a son(will be 5 soon). in 2008 i got pregnant again, this pregnancy ended in an ectopic pregnancy that i had removed by surgery, i had an HSG and it showed that i had complete scare tissue bloackage. now 2011, been with my sons father for 6 years and we just got married and want to continue to grow our family. so we made an apt with our RE. she did some tests and concluded, i have low egg count (because i only have one ovary, its a good amount for one ovary but its on the low side) she said that as i get older my count will continue to lower. so she wants to start IVF sooner than later. Hubbys swimmer are good, and all my other tests are good as well. Since Nov of 2010 ive lost 50lbs so i praying that works in my favor. everythign is getting set to start IVF next month, i find out to day if i have to have a surgery to close the remaining tube i have, because of my increased chance of ectopic she does nto want to take any chances... so im praying everything goes according to pland and im praying we do not have to have surgery

Thank you. I am just trying for one and always promised my doctors I would be a one and done. LOL Good luck to you too. With a weight loss of 50lbs, that has to help. Even if I drop 50, I will still be overweight. I don't come from a line of small people but was 130 until I did hormones and lupron for endo and gained 85lbs in one year and that never came off and then I gained even more after that because of a more hectic lifestyle and not taking the time to slow down, eat good meals and exercise.

I hope to keep watching the food and exercise a bit and lose weight slowly but it won't happen overnight and I can't keep waiting so will hopefully get some good eggs and take it from there. Feel free to send me a private message or an email through my blog.

That's great that you don't need surgery! I will drop you a private message with some contact info if you want it. I had my baseline today and I was a hot mess but they tried to reassure, 11 follicles it seems, start stims Thursday, back on Monday.

As far as BCPs, I started them on CD2 back on May 2nd - can't speak for others. Good luck if you get to start IVF next month! Scary and exciting!
