Question I need your advice and support please

    Hi Everyone,

I am new here, I thought it would be a good site that could help me with my fertility issue's, maybe women with similiar issue's can share thier stories with me.

    My Story

I am 37 years old, married to my DH for 2 years now. We have been TTC for the same period of time. I have been a Diabetic Type 2 since I was 13 years old. My menstrual cycle first started when I was 11 years old and decreased to 2-3 per year if that now.

I have been overweight all my life, currently I am 240lbs 5'5. When I was 21 I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am on Insulin Injections 40 units of Insulin once a day, 2000mg Metformin a day, 30g of Glipizde. Losing weight when being overweight all my life is a lifetime habit to break, I am finding it so difficult to loose weight, I have been exercising 4-5 times a week for 40-60 mins per day, eating very well and all I have lost in 2 months is 8 pounds. The doctors say it is more difficult to lose weight being a diabetic.

My Doctor says I need to lose 80lbs before they will do any fertility tests and put me on Clomed. My OBGYN said for me to have children right now or before I lose weight would probably cause birth defects to our child. They wont even do ultrasounds to see if my PCOS have increased in size or numbers, no tests to see if my tudes are blocked or if I have scarring of my uterus. The OBGYN has told me to go on the pill.

It's very disheartening to not have all of the answers I need other than lose weight, where we are based the medical resources are limited and there are no specialists, I do not know what tests I should ask them to do on me. I am afraid my age is working against me and by the time I lose weight I will be 38-39 and that in itself increases birth defects such as down syndrome. Have I missed my biological clock, has anyone else had similiar health issue's like me and have some advice or have had a child?

My DH and I would love to have a child of our own, but honestly we are starting to think Surrogacy is the only answer.

Please help me if you can to shead some light on this situation I have.

WOW....NavyWife. I am so sorry to hear that you are going through all this. I breaks my heart and ticks me off when doctors put everything on weight issues. Like we don't know that we are overweight and it's hurting our health. I can see that you have other health issues, but I believe under careful care they are workable. Do you think it might have anything to do w/ your location? I see that you are outside the US and I'm not sure how easy they are over there. Are you on a military base? Have you talked to TriCare about finding someone else...anyone else for another answer? I would want to see someone else. They should at least be willing to do the basic testing. HSG, FSH levels and an u/s to check your PCOS. You should be able to demand your health care...it's your body!

    Hello BC-IrishBrat1313,

Yes I feel like the doctors here in Japan don't know what to do about my health issue's hence there is NO specialists here and Tricare will only do so much when the medical facilities are limited. We tried to enter a program to get us out of overseas orders but my husbands chain of command would not release him from his overseas orders which means I would have to move to the states without him, HELLO i need my DH to get pregnant so that would not work. Thank you for your support and letting me know some of the tests I can ask my OBGYN to do on me, I think its just the easy way out for doctors to just say hey lose weight first but lets ignore the other health issues you have.

    Here is hoping huh....

    thanks xxooxx

You are most welcome! I've always had a hard time w/ military doctors here. I would go in for a cold and they would say...lose weight. What...skinny women don't get colds? I finally stood up for myself and things have changed since.

An Idea: This could be illegal or something, but couldn't you visit home (the US) for a few months get seen by someone here just to get the tests done and see what you can do? Maybe even get clomid and go back to your husband?
