Hello! (pg ment. in replies)

Hi all, I know you don't know me but I'm just here looking for encouragement and support & hoping to give the same in return! I just had my IUI today & I'm a mixture of excited & nervous energy.

Quick background: We started this process last year thinking it would give me at least 1.5-2 years to lose weight & get the IUI (the fertility doc asked me to lose about 35 pounds & said we had to do this before I turned 43). At last count I weighed 311. I was about 11 pounds from the goal last May when I had a car accident & spent more time at the chiro than anywhere else. Thank God I'm fine now, but we picked up the process again in June 09. I asked to wait til August so I could lose those 11 pounds but my fertility doc got me started this month.

So today we did our thing. The doc said my hubby's count was lower than they'd like but that women have gotten pregnant with the same number (2000). So now we're waiting & this is gonna be the LONGEST 14 days of MY LIFE! I can't help but feel excited & prayerful that we will only have to do this once.

Thanks for reading, looking forward to reading other stories on this board as well

Kimi,

Good luck to you. The 2ww is horrible! You pick at everything and hope it's a sign. When are you going to start testing?

Remember it just takes 1 smart swimmer to do that magic.

Hope you get a BFP

Hello BC-IrishBrat1313! Thanks for the reply.

I'm going back on Monday @ 8am for a blood test & the pregnancy test is on 8/3. If I remember right the blood test will look at progesterone levels & if they're raised that's a good sign (?). I'm almost scared to take a home pregnancy test cuz I don't wanna get my hopes up since they're not 100% if its wrong I'll be done.

Thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it! Yes I'm wondering if so many things happening to my body are a sign & I'm just praying I'm right! In the meantime we got my hubby some sperm booster vitamins just in case.

The levels they are checking are you E2 levels. If it's over a certain amount they know you ovulated. Hopefully you'll have a good number. I think mine was like 332 or something like that when I ovulated.

Are you a HPT taker? I waited until the day AF was due to take mine. I couldn't handle doing it any sooner

They gave me a "surge" shot right before the insemination to make me ovulate (& I took the clear blue easy test that morning & got the smiley face) & I took a fertility drug the week prior - Ledava I think? When I didn't ovulate when they thought I would they gave me the shot & I got inseminated the next day.

What's HPT & AF (after fertilization?)? Sorry I'm not familiar with the lingo

Home Pregnancy Tests and Aunt Flow. You'll get use to them the more you are around the boards.

Has your husband been good through the process?

I'm a little nervous about HPTs since they're not 100% - don't wanna get myself excited for nada, it'll be hard enough as it is to get a negative result. I "might" try one next weekend tho if I just can't stand it anymore lol. Do you suggest any brands that seem reliable around these boards?

Hubby has had his good/bad days with this process. When we first began & had to do a lotta testing he was lukewarm to the whole idea. But he's very excited, has been supportive since the insemination & praying for a positive outcome too. But I'm sure his attitude will change as time goes on if it doesnt work & according to my fertility doc she won't do insemination more than 3x, & she doesn't recommend IVF for me cuz she said I'm not an "extreme" case.

Wait at least 10 days after your shot. That can give you a false positive. I really like the Walmart brand. I was able to get a reading at a low level. I think the day I tested I was under 50 for the HCG level so I was pretty darn happy with those. I think the pregnant not pregnant ones are good too...you don't try and look at lines in the different lights.

HCG is the hormone they use to make you ovulate and if you took a pregnancy test after your trigger shot it would show up that you are pregnant giving you a false positive. That's why it's best to wait 10 days for the trigger to be out of your system. Or surge shot to be out of your system.

Pregnancy tests messure levels of HCG. Most normally start at 50, but equate ones I found can messure less than 50.

Hope I didn't loose you to much. )
