Overweight and TTC!! HELP

I am overwieght and I have been TTC.. the first gyn I went to told me I was too big to have a baby.. and I gave up that was about 2 yrs ago, then I started reading about infertility. I am on 250 mcg of synthroid and I know that my thyroid is regulated.. but I have been charting my bbt for about 3 months and my temp has been in the 96's nothing above 97.1. AF does not come every month.. and when it does.. I dont even have to wear a pad. I just know its there from when I wipe.

Now I have an appt on the 2 with another gyn.. and I want to request clomid. Is there anything you know about being overweight and on Provera and Clomid. Do you think he will prescribe both? Do you think he will give it to me then on the 2nd. I am really anxious and excited.

Of course ins. does not cover injections so I am hoping this will work.

Doctors are soo stupid sometime! I'm sure you are not that fattest women in the world and that does not mean you can't get pregnant because your big! Sure you want to be your healthiest when TTC or pregnant.. but why is it the HUGE people have babies everyday? Grrrrrrrh! It makes me soo angry!

I saw a Repro Endo, and she prescribe provera after giving me a vaginal US because my lining was very thick. Then I was started on clomid, and started taking ovulation kits. That was my very first cycle, I don't know if its the routine or anything.

But all the same good luck!! Let me know how it turns out!

It's really hard. My RE won't do IVF unless you are under a BMI of 40. So I'm trying to lose 30 more lbs to get down to 245. I was a 302 when I first started trying to lose. It's a struggle and coupling that with the burden of infertility is extremely hard.
You should still talk to your doctor about it and see if he/she would have an issue with it. You also want to make sure you are actually ovulating.

Sounds like u have pcos.Have u been checked for it.It sometimes goes hand in hand with hypothyroid.Just a suggestion.I would mention it.I also have pcos and hypothyroid. My temps never go above 96 or 97 unless I am o'ing then it will go up to 98 but not any other time of the month.I had gastric bypass a year ago and I have lost 105 lbs.Weightloss does help things out.I am now o'ing .I did did at my heaviest.U wanna be healthy before u concieve.

I am full figured woman recently diagnosed with PCOS. After all of the prior fertility issues I have ha:blocked tubes; loss of an ovary; fibroids; etc.; PCOS seems like another addition to the long list of infertility issues. I was placed on Metformin. I was planning to do an IVF cycle this month. I have beeen on Metformin therapy for about 4 weeks. I never miss my periods before the Metformin. Well, I have missed my period. It was supposed to start about 6 days ago. Its never late. I am trying to keep the faith.. I am trying to be positive, but this is alot to bare. After years of not even having the opportunity to try IVF, Now the time has come to at least try and I continue to wait for the menstrual cycle to begin. I still have not been able to get started with the IVF process.. I am praying that the Metformin is actually not working against me. This Metformin Therapy was supposed to help me to conceive, instead I don't even know. From what I have read online, many women with this Metformin therapy miss their periods. I am crying as I am writing this because I just wanted to at least try IVF!!! Unfortunately, this IVF cycle may not happen for me this time. I am totally heartsick...

My husband and I have also been TTC for 2 years now and it is sooo difficult when you're not even sure where to start! I was told that I too had to drop some weight due to my BMI. I"m not diabetic and don't have any thyroid issues. My periods use to be regular until I got into my mid 30's and then of course came the weight gain. I too wanted to get onto Clomid but my RE indicated that I needed to lose weight first and also get blood work to make sure there were no other contributing factors. You would think that you can just get Clomid like that but you have to go through all these hoops just to get a prescription. FINALLY after almost 2 years we finally got the Rx for Clomid. They checked my ovarian reserves and everything checked out fine! I have been on and off Provera to induce my monthly period so I would check in with your RE to see if they start the bloodwork. Perhaps induce your monthly periods with Provera and then get onto Chlomid

So glad your dr gave you clomid. I'm really tired of them saying...you need to be this weight before you get the medication. Yes being a smaller weight can have a better effect with the medication, but every BODY is different.

How many months have you been on clomid?

All of that is such BS... I hate doctors using OUR weight to validate THEIR laziness. Right now I'm stationed in S. Korea which is full of little skinny people the restrooms elevators etc.. my elbows literally touch both sides of them they are so tiny and built for tiny stick people. I went offpost to a korean doctor (army base here isnt equipped to do anything but treat a cold) and asked about treating PCOS he ran a million tests that day and within about a week and a half he had all test done and results back. Then he had me come in for results asked if I wanted to get pregnant I said yes he asked if I wanted it soon of course I said yes that day he gave me a shot to induce my period had me come in when it showed up gave me clomid and had me come in every other day for an ultrasound while on clomid to make sure 100% he knew what was going on with the follicles. That cycle failed but he tested me until CD 21 (u/s got really old every 2 days for that long) since after 21 days no follicle growth I go in today hes inducing AF again and we are upping the clomid dose and trying again same proceedure. Never once has he mentioned my weight the first visit he took height weight and took my measurements and that was it. I'm 5'6" and about 260 so its not like I was in some great range that made it not matter. Thankfully hes just a doctor that doesn't blame his laziness on my weight so he doesnt have to do anything I think most docs blame our weight and say theres nothing they can do until we drop it because they know it'll either take forever to drop it or we wont do it either way they wont have to do the work and we can't put it back on them.

BC- I haven't started my cycle of clomid yet. I just got the Rx literally last week but I was sooo excited when I finally got the "go ahead" to get Clomid. It was sooo frustrating wondering and continually waiting and waiting while they ran their tests just to get my Rx. I guess I just had to be patient but after a while I started feeling helpless and I knew my clock was ticking. Left and right people around me are getting pregnant...3 of my best friends got married immediately after we had our wedding and here I was still waiting. Sometimes is hard not to lose hope.
I do think however that my weight plays a partial role in why my periods being irregular. Prior to meeting my husband I went from a size 13/14 down to a size 7/8 and as soon as I started dropping the weight my periods became regular again. BUT I still don't think it's a reason for doctors to use that as an excuse to delay Tx. Left and right I see full figured women pregnant so using that excuse is ridiculous. I have to thank my husband though...he has remained positive and supportive throughout this while I on the otherhand I sometime lose hope (sigh) I guess we'll see. My RE has me on 3 cycles of Clomid with IUI.

I haven't been around these boards in a long time, but I felt the need to come back. I too am overweight and have fertility issues. I have PCOS which makes me not have periods at all, but I wanted to share a little happy story. I started weight watchers in July of this year and I've gone from 294 to 269 and after losing 25 pounds I've started periods on my own and ovulated. This is such an exciting thing for me considering I haven't had a period on my own in probably 10 years.

I also went to doctors who said I needed to be under a certain BMI for them to treat me, and it's so frustrating, when you're ready for a baby you want now. I just hope that everyone gets the treatment they deserve and doctors stop putting labels on overweight people that pretty much say they're not fit to have kids so it's not worth the time.
