What questions did you ask at your first appointment?

My DH and I have our first appointment with our new doctor in a few weeks, and I'm almost at a loss as to what I need to know to ask my doctor while I'm at my appointment. A little background on myself. I'm overweight, diagnosed with PCOS in 2005, and otherwise healthy. I've thought about the obvious (how my weight will affect my treatment, what followup will be like, alternative treatments, etc etc), but I don't quite know what technical questions to ask him, aside from doing the clomid/injectibles route. If anyone could help out, it would be appreciated!

Are you taking metaformin? Or treating your pcos? Often treating pcos will make weight loss a little easier. Weight does play a factor but your doc should be willing to work around it and maybe can offer some help as to how to get healthier(beyond being active).

I would ask for a fertility work-up if you have not done one and then just ask what the doc thinks would be the best way to proceed. If you use clomid or other stims be sure the doc plans to monitor and check for ovulation and cysts. Anything you feel(instincts) might be causing a problem then ask about it. If you don't like the docs idea then ask about your ideas and see what he/she thinks.

my PCOS is being monitored via ultrasounds for cysts (obviously), and I'm on a diet and exercise regimen right now. My GP had me on metformin, but it didn't do much more than leave me feeling nauseated all the time (even at low doses). From what I've read, it seems that metformin and clomid go hand in hand with PCOS and infertility treatments.

Thanks for your advice, I will be sure to ask for a fertility workup when I go for my appointment.
