An Introduction :) (everything ment)

Hello all. I would like to introduce myself and pass along my story.

My name is Kelly. I'm 29 years old and I have 1 devilish son named Shane. My husband and I were TTC for 3 years before we were finally able to get pregnant. I was told at 14 that I had PCOS. Of course at the time that meant nothing to me, but all that changed when I we said, "let's have a baby." Silly me thought as soon as I went off BCPs I would get pregnant. Like the stories I was told in High School. Guess not.

I did:

1 year of NOTHING (dumb insurance)
1 year of Glucophage (Met)
6 months of clomid w/ dexamethasone
6 months of injections w/ glucophage and HCG trigger.

When I started my TTC journey I was at 297 and I'm still in that ball park today. I have dealt with idiot Drs who wanted me to lose weight before treatment and just kicked them to the curb. I have dealt with medication not working....who would have thought that the trigger shot wouldn't have worked. Also went through a lot of depression and almost a divorce with my husband over TTC crap!

I would like to help in anyway possible. Offering friendly advice, a shoulder to cry on or a someone to spill the beans to when it's just to early to tell.

So when you get the chance....introduce yourselves. Let me know where you are in your cycles or if you are just taking a break. I would like to get to know all my fluffy ladies out there.

Best advice I can give you....don't give up. Keep fighting the fight. It's your body you deserve fair treatment! Don't let the Drs push you around.

Thank you

This thread is very kind of you. I would like to thank you also for responding to my thread. Reading your message was really reassuring. It seemed like that was me writing it with all the obstcales you mentioned.

The whole divorce thing is scary but I can truly understand because me and my husband are having a very hard time right now. He wants a child so much and I feel as though it is my weight that is keeping us from that. However if losing weight was that easy I would not be this size. Even though I am happy with my size.

I am not getting any help with these doctors. I am a patient at Kaiser so I have to go with their doctors. It is so hard even be able to ask the question to find out if they are plus friendly doctors. I can not believe that it is this hard to get pregnant. It is so sad with this hospital are sending us through. I've even thought about just buying the pills on line myself and say to hell with Kaiser.

OK I have ventred enough..thank you for listening.

Feel free to vent. That's what we are here for. I don't think you'll find anyone in the world like the people on here.

Why is it that the only discrimination aloud in the world is one of weight? It's okay to judge and be wrong to those who are overweight, but no one of color or sexual preference. IMO.

You should really at least talk to your Dr and tell him your feelings. He might proceed, but with his warning.

Wow. I can't believe how rude he is! Your insurance company doesn't care that he is treating you differently?

I am at a loss for words. I just can't believe the compassion of some people.

Loss Mentioned

Hi Kelly. Like lddavis01 said, this thread is very kind of you. It's nice to find someone out there who is willing to listen as well as share. In dealing with infertility, I have found that it is very difficult to find someone to talk to. I spend a lot of time on these boards (mostly reading) so that I know I am not alone in my struggle.

My name is Anne. I am 29 and my husband is 35. We have been trying to conceive for 4+ years now. Our diagnosis is MF and PCOS. My husband had varicocele repair surgery (which did absolutely nothing to help) and I have been taking metformin. We have been to three RE's (the first two we left because of the issue they made of my weight). My current RE is wonderful...I can't say enough good about him. I have truly never been treated so well, with so much respect and compassion, by a doctor.

We are currently in between cycles right now. We did our first attempt at IVF w/ ICSI this past July. We transferred two embryos and I became pregnant with twins. I lost one of the babies at 7 weeks. I started to have complications after that and was in to see my RE every 5-6 days. At 10.5 weeks, he did an ultrasound and diagnosed a cornual pregnancy. I had never heard of that before, but when I did my research, I found that it is the rarest form of an ectopic and very deadly. My baby was actually growing out through the wall of my uterus. My RE sent me to a gynocological oncologist immediately and I was scheduled for surgery the next morning to remove my right tube, a portion of my uterus, and the baby. It was without a doubt the most devastating thing I have been through. That was about 9 weeks ago. I'm still an emotional wreck these days, but I am trying to move forward and get ready for our next attempt. We will be doing an FET in January. We have seven embryos frozen from our IVF and will be transferring two. I am looking forward to trying again but am scared that it will not work and even more scared that it will and I'll lose another baby.

Thanks for listening and sharing your story with all of us.

Hi and Welcome!

My husband had the same thing done. I think it was embarrassment than help. Of course he'll always point to his scar and tell me he tired too. I normally pull out my bag of left over needles and say...me too.

How long have you been taking Met for?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine how painful that is. I have a really wonderful friend who has been through 3 losses and all I can do is hold her hand in support.

I'm glad you were able to find an RE that was willing to help you. Who would have thought that finding someone to treat you would be a challenge. It's hard enough getting pregnant let alone finding someone willing to take your money to help you get pregnant. It's nuts!

Please feel free vent and cry all you want here. I tend to babble a lot, because it's nice to be around others that know what I am feeling.

Lot of baby dust for you in Jan for your transfer! Hopefully they'll make themselves right at home...where they belong....and you'll have 2 wonderful blessings for the new year.

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for your reply. How old is your son? Are you planning on trying for more?

I've been on Metformin since April. My cousin who has PCOS took it while trying to get pregnant and lost a ton of weight...I have not lost a single pound while taking it! Not fair!

I saw your post about the holidays. My entire family (aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, parents, etc) will be coming to my house for Thanksgiving, so that will definately keep me occupied. We get together every year for the holidays, but I have never hosted the dinner. My husband and I bought our first house last year, so now we've been put in the rotation. We would like to go down and visit my husband's family in Florida over Christmas, but we're saving the money for our FET in January. What about you, do you have any plans for the holidays?

How is the weather where you are? We've been getting some really cold weather and snow for the past few days and it's not going to let up any time soon. Ugh..winter is here.

child ment. and preg ment.

Hi Annie.

Well...my son just turned 2 in September. I honestly think about having another one all the time, but am scared to make the next leap. I prayed and prayed to have 1 beautiful healthy child and was given that...I don't want to tempt fate.

Met never made me lose a pound. At first it made me sick, but I got use to it and nothing, but I did take it through my entire pregnancy and I think it helped a lot.

We are staying home for the holiday. We just bought our house a little over a year ago and with all the crazy money that goes into it...it's hard to go anywhere.

Hi Kelly,

I am Angie and I am 34 my DH is 39. We have been TTC#1 for almost 3 years now. We started out just BMS and then went to go seek help in OCT '07 we tried clomid and then that did not produce anything and then we did an HSG which showed nothing so we waited until Jan'08 I started inj Repronex with Ovidrel and and did our first IUi in Feb and then I had a DNC in March since I had buildt up fulid in the lining so. I was so depressed and scared and then got in a huge fight with my insurance company since they started paying for my meds and then said that they were no longer going to since they were not supposed to in the first place. I finally got them to pay for them until the end of my doctors authorizations in Feb 09. So we started doing this again in June did iui's in june, july, and august and all BFN. They overstimmed me in September and I had three of my four mature follicles rupture and then ended up with a cyst and had to set october out I just had iui #5 on 11/11 and I am in the 2ww. I just hope this is the one we have no more money and with christmas coming we are not going to have a good christmas . I just don't want to do this anymore but I dont know how to go on living if I cant make this happen.

Angie
