Full Figured and IVF

Hi ladies:

Just curious if anyone full figured has become pregnant with IVF?

I have a high BMI for my height and just wanted to know if that will affect my next IVF.

I also have a high BMI. Over 40. ALL the IVF clinics I've talked to want a BMI of 34 or so. I have been refused many times.

Have you found a clinic that will do IVF with your BMI the way it is?

Yes, I fall into this category and have never been turned away from a clinic. I did 5 IVF's in NJ, went for a 2nd opinion at another clinic in NJ, and will be doing IVF #6 with yet another clinic in NYC.

I did one IVF cycle and have a baby girl. I do not know my BMI, but I am a big girl. I have PCOS. My doc never mentioned my weight. I had a successful IVF and pregnancy. Good luck to all of you! Hope this helps!

My doctor told me he won't treat me if I'm over 250 and was told something about the table they use for IVF will only hold that much? To be weight shouldn't matter health should! I am taking pills for infertility and now Xenical which cost me $200.00 a month to lose weight!

Yes, it is possible. I have a son through my 3rd IVF attempt. I am about 60lbs overweight. Best wishes.

Some RE's won't move forward but other will not mention the weight. I like the RE's who do not mention it.

hi... I am the perfect wt. for someone 6ft tall....unfortunately I'm only 5'7"!!! My RE has recommendations, but hasn't turned me away yet. I had my son w/IUI 7 years ago and was about 20 lbs overweight/twins that I lost due to IC with IVF and was about 20 lbs overwweight, and ds that is now four from FET...it definitely affects your cycle, but shouldn't cancel it.
good luck! I'm currently in the 2ww after transfer today....crossing fingers and keeping my butt up!
Mary

I had my DD through IVF and was about 50 lbs overweight. She is now a healthy and beautiful 19 month old.
We are currently going through IVF #2 and I am about 60lbs over weight. My RE has not said anything to me about my weight.

My dr won't do IVF on anyone who's over 40 BMI, it has to do with the ER and the anestesia (sorry, can't spell!) Anyway, that's the only reason we are on hold.
