Take a break to loose weight?

Hello, I'm a newbie on this site.

I had one unsuccessful FSH/HCG/IUI cycle. This month I did the FSH and HCG, but was unable to do the IUI becuase of schedule issues so we did timed intercourse instead, I can't get a blood test till next week.

Anyway, I'm 5'2" and weigh about 185 pounds, I think my BMI is around 31, I forget. Anyway, my Dr. told me that my weight only decreases my chances by 5% so he said to just try life style change, a decrease in weight or waiting wouldn't matter either way. Bascially he said no, I don't have to wait, if my BMI was 8-10 points higher, he wouldn't help me cause he'd be robbing me and I would have had to loose weight.

Honestly, I'm wiped out, I've had panic attacks this month and the emotional roller coaster from hormones has really gotten to me. I'm not sure if my weight is a factor or not, I carrym most of my fat in my belly. I wonder if that gets in the way of absorbtion of medications or my egg traveling successfully. My husband has an excellent sperm count.

I was thinking of taking a break to loose some weight if this test is negative. I'm not sure if it would make me feel better or not. But at the same time, every time I turn around I see someone else getting pregnant and it's getting really hard not to get down.

If anyone has any insight. I'd really appreciate it.

Good Morning -

I just wanted to tell you that I am in the same BMI catergory and I had an iui in May = BFN and an iui w/clomid in June = BFP!!

Yes, I wish would have lost some weight before starting the tx possible. I am 5w1d along, my beta #'s are strong (thank God!) and I pray this continues to a healthy baby. My doctor's opinion was the same as yours. I think if it was a bigger risk they would tell us. Yes, its probably healthier for mom and baby to have less bmi. But many a baby have been born to "non-skinny" moms. I think our whole concept about thin=healthy is out of whack! Years ago, women were bigger and still had families. I dont' know about you, but I don't feel HUGE (yet!) but know I need to lose some. I'm a stress eater, so the tx and the waits did NOT help in the weight department!

Best of Luck!
Vickie

Thank you Vickie, I really appreciate your feedback and support.

I'm really glad things worked out for you. Congratulations on your BFP! I hope all continues to go well for you.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do at this point if I have another BFN, I may take a break or I may try again and then take a break. I'm a total stress eater too, it's never easy.

Depression and lack of energy doesn't help either with excersise and I eat better when I'm on a regular excersise routine.

Sometimes I feel huge, I definatly could feel more comfortable in my own skin, even if I could just get myself to loose 20 pounds.

Thanks again for the feedback. I feel a little better hearing it from another woman and not just a doctor that I do have hope.

Take care of yourself.
