how many problems can one have?

Okay...I am new to this so bare with me...I am a 34 yr old woman that has experienced numerous bumps in the road...I am married to a man that has never experienced anything more than the common cold as a dramatic sickness...to make a long story longer....in my short 34 yrs...I had had leukemia, hepatic toxiema, hep c due to numerous blood tranfusions as a cancer patient...and the list goes on.....to add to the list I am a size 18/20. I LOVE ALL OF ME!!!! HOWEVER, SOME SEEM TO THINK MY SIZE ADDS TO MY TROUBLES....I SAY YA AND SO DOES THE PRICE OF GAS BUT WHOS TRYING TO CHANGE THAT!!! Anyway, I would like someone to answer this question? What does size have to do with getting the "baby bump?" I have seen couples larger than one could imagine expecting? So what's the deal? Can someone come up with a different excuse....or what?

I don't think there's a lot of proof that being overweight can cause infertility or problems getting pregnant. I have read articles that say that overweight women may not get pregnant because they aren't having as much s.e.x. because of low self-image or self-esteem. There's also the thought that fat produces too much estrogen so it can throw off the hormones (can never remember if it's too much or too little).

I'm overweight and infertile, but weight has nothing to do with my condition.

Thanks for responding...one thing that you stated that kinda hit home was your statement on producing too much or not enough estrogen...well, I am having problems with producing too much of all hormones FSH, and estrogen...I am becoming frustrated with it all...I don't understand why my body decides it wants to act a fool and just produce whatever....

I hear what you're saying. I have high FSH, but my RE told me that's not a result of being overweight.

It is so frustrating because Dr.'s think they know what's going on with us, but no one really knows the causes of high FSH or the influence of weight on pregnancy/fertility.

The only time your weight could cause a problem is if you have PCOS. I'm also overweight and I don't have PCOS. I have seen studies that say it is more difficult for overweight women to get pregnant, but they don't explain why. My RE has never told me to lose weight and has said I can get pregnant. I just went through two IVF cycles and I responded very well to the normal dose of the drugs. The second cycle ended in an ectopic, which has nothing to do with my weight.
