Low thyroid and infertility

Hey ladies,
I was wondering if anyone here had a thyroid problem and could tell me some information about it (how it impairs fertility). After months...and I mean months 13 of clomid my Dr. thinks now I might have a low thyroid. I had a blood test yeterday for thyroid and prolactin. I will find out Wed.
Take care and Thanks, Sonya

Hi sonya

I have thyroid issues too. Im not too sure how it impacts fertility. But it dose control alot of hormones in the body. its sure dose a number on one. I dont like the constant tired feeling. It effects moods. When my tends to be out of sync my dh can tell before me.

I was dx with low thyroid and high prolactin a year ago. Not my main reason for IF, but the thyroid regulated hormones in the body and can play a role in iF. Prolactin is the hormone released when breastfeeding and will halt ovulation. Prolactin and hypothyroidism has a direct link as well. I hope some of this helped.

hi i have an overactive thyroid and my endo told me that if it's not "normal" it can casue miscarriages and birth defects. I was going to cycle in march when they found the problem. the endo told me to wait 3 months on meds b4 i cycle. i'm now heading towards my 3rd month on the drugs hopefully the levels are normal enough so that i can cycle in aug-sept.

I have a low thyroid issue and have been on meds. for it for years. It absolutely effects fertility and can cause many problems. It effects the glands and hormone producing which is the key to fertility. There is hope though. I am now 25 weeks pregnant. It took clomid to do it for me and this whole entire pregnancy I had to and still have to go to a thyroid specialist to monitor my levels because it can cause still births and birth defects among a lot of other problems including low IQ's. I also get to get an u/s sound every 6 weeks until I hit 32 weeks and then its more frequent.

Good luck. Getting diagnosed is the first step!!!!!!!!
