Hi Ladies-
I was just wondering if anyone has anything they can tell me about having a short luteal phase and its treatment?
I am a fluffy girl! haha about 5'8" and appr 270. I put on a GOOD 70+ pounds after having back surgery 4 times in a span of 6 months. (We won't even go there.) I am curerntly trying lose more weight, but the doc and nutritionist only want me to lose 1/2 a pound a week. Not to mention I am also diabetic with sugars under EXCELLENT control and I am waiting for my pump. My high risk doc said i have permission to GO FOR IT!
Here's the deal...DH and I have been TTC for 2 months. I have been charting for many. I realized that I ovulate late (day 19 to 21), have short LP (7-8 days) and a cycle of 28 days like clockwork. The LP needs to be at least 10 days in order to implant. I am going tomorrow to see my OB/GYN to see what can be done.
Does anyone else have this problem? I have been reading that the "cure or fix" is clomid and progesterone. Is Clomid reliable? Do most people get pg on it? What about the progesterone? I read that I would have to stay on it throughout my first trimester if I were to conceive. I also heard that B6 and Fertility Blend could help. I have started the B6 at 100 mg and I am a little unsure about Fertility Blend b/c I have heard horror stories and I that you cannot be on FB for at least a month before starting Clomid.
Does anyone have any success stories with a short LP? With clomid? with progesterone supplementation?
I am so sorry this is long. I am quite anxious and nervous and upset. Tomorrow cannot come soon enough.![]()
Can anyone give me any suggestion, advice, reassurance? I am SO stressed. Sigh....
Thanks in advance !

Hi tweety
Welcome to the board. First thing is to breathe.lol I know this is a stressfull time. But you have taken the first step. You are seeing your obgyn.
Yes many women get pregnant with clomid. I do believe it helps with short LP. Yes you would have to take progestrone for a time if you conceive. I'm not sure if its the first trimester. But its till your body is making enough progestrone to hold the PG.
Since you are seeing your Doctor ask about the FB vitamins. I do know they will want you to be taking a prenatal vitimins. Exspeicallly with folic acid.
Good luck let us know how its goingDenise

Thanks Denise! I am feeling much better today. I still do not know how they are going to treat me, but I am going to undergo a bunch of tests and then we will decide on treatment. I will have to see the RE in May after the test results are back. hmmm
I think the worst part is the "hurry up and wait" part. UGH! I just wish I knew what was going on. It is SO frustrating!
THANKS for listening!!

I got pg on my second round of clomid
I was 5'8" and 340lbs when i got pregnant. I have pcos and dont cycle on my own at all, let alone ovulate.
Clomid was a miracle maker for me.
Good luck and lots of baby dust!

Hi Kim!
I am now 7 DPO and doing the 2ww. Ugh! If AF comes then I am off for the HSG and blood tests. My appt is May 12th for the RE. Oh joy! Hah! I have a feeling clomid and progesterone are my next stop. WooHoo! I would love to be your clomid buddy in june!
Ok short LP is anything less then 10 days. LP is the time from ovulation until when AF arrives. Mine is usually 7-9 days. This doesn't give the baby a chance to implant.
However, this month I started taking a B6 supplement to see if it would help lengthen my LP and I actually O'd earlier than normal. Now, if AF comes on the same day as usual (Day 28-29), then my LP will have lengthened!! I am just hoping that AF doesn't come at all and I fall pg! Then I wouldn't need all this testing! ahhhh
At least my blood sugars are under control. Now all i have to do is get back to dieting. YUCK!
So keep your fingers crossed!~ GOOD LUCK to you too and let me know how it goes!

help
Tweety
Can you please tell me what treatment finally worked for you? I've been trying to conceive for close to 2 years and after some blood test, realized I have a short luteal phase of 4 days. I'm going to see my OB next week and want to go in with as much info as possible. Thanks.
