Tomorrow is Ostara (Spring Equinox), a holiday celebrated by Pagans and those usually of Earth Religions. I have decided that this must be the perfect holiday for us this year, considering our current baby making endeavors. Since we both work tomorrow and are too busy, we are going to make our spring wreath on Saturday.
We already have one for winter and fall. All of the wreaths we have made have a pentagram that's built into the middle of the circular wreath from twigs. The fall one represents Samhain and has a cauldron as well as fall/autumn colors. Our winter one is for the Winter Solstice and has blue and silver ribbon, some christmas berries and a heart ornament from our wedding hanging from the center.
This one will contain lots of fun spring colors and creatures. As well as a baby rattle hanging from the top of it. Awww I love it! The creatures will be a bunny, a frog, an egg, a fairy, and a bear at each point of the star, each representing spring in it's own way. I also decided that we will have the frog placed next to the egg since the frog starts as a tadpole which looks like sperm and this has tons to do with fertility. We will also have spring colored ribbons wrapping around the wreath and a picture of the Goddess Eostre peering from behind the middle of the pentagram I believe.
I found a couple of cool videos about Ostara, the first one is shorter and more brief, the second one is longer and kind of in depth.
Here they are:
Ostara Video One
Ostara Video Two
So, Blessed Ostara to you all and may your new beginnings turn into wonderful joys and happiness!![]()

MomNC: I had thought about doing a "mini indoor greenhouse" thing I saw but man, I am so not good with the green thumb thing! lol, I kind of want to try just to see if I could it. I have NO plants in my house!
MiracleTwins: I don't have a digital camera but I will take it to my sisters and have her take a picture.
I just don't know how soon that will be.

Do you guys cook any special foods for this time? Ostara or Easter? We are contemplating between ham and lamb. I don't know if I can do lamb though! LOL, it is our tradition to have at least a couple of friends over, do our crafts and make a feast. We will also have salad and deviled eggs...and I don't know what else.
Jimi will be cooking the dinner, what a busy day it is going to be since I will be in school from 9:00am to 4:30pm!

I am not great with plants either....but I try. We have a beautiful plant that we bought in honor of our twins that we lost, and I am VERY careful with that one.
In my fantasy world, I would have plants all over! But alas, that is why it is a fantasy.....not gonna happen anytime soon.VERY proud mommy to ALL my children:

No special foods here. I was raised Jewish (obviously not practicing now!) and Passover has TONS of special foods.
We have never done Easter....although this year we are faking it for my dying FIL's sake.
And DS is allergic to eggs.
So that is out!

Sorry to hear about your father in law and I hope his passing is as easy as one possibly can be for all involved.
I grew up doing Easter, myself. DH did too. I'm sure we will probably do Easter and have the egg hunts with their little friends when we have a child...but right now we do not celebrate "Easter" in any way.
