Chich - I'm on oral estrace, but if you messed up one estrace vaginal dose, i wouldn't be too concerned. Like you said you're on the patch too, so you're probably getting enough, somehow. I'm doubled up on Progesterone myself - shots 2cc/day and suppositories 3x a day plus the estrace....!

Cheryl, I am so sorry to hear your results. My clinic doesn't test progesterone after the first beta but I'm surprised that they wouldn't provide that info to you as you specifically requested it. This whole progesterone thing is so confusing. My clinic assures me that there is no reason for me to worry about my progesterone while I'm on the suppositories and they cannot measure it through bloodwork. Like you, i think it would be reassuring to be able to measure it through bloodwork by using PIO instead. Hopefully you can go that route next time. Glad to hear that you have 3 frozens still.
Looking forward to hearing good news from you in May.
Hugs.Chich

Rajraj, if you don't mind me asking, what prompted your RE to prescribe shots + 3x suppository progesterone? Just curious to know what prompted that dose. I'm sure every clinic has a different approach. My clinic gave me the impression that they prescribed the max dose when I expressed concern about my progesterone level but clearly that's not the case. Hopefully I have enough to sustain the pregnancy until my body produces its own.

I am sorry Cherllyn. And your RE was dumb to guarantee anything with this process. even perfect conditions with perfect embryos turn out negatively all the time in the IVF world.

Hi Chich, to be honest I don't know why i got the max dose. i think it's because i misscarried on my fresh cycle in december. During that cycle, I had been on suppositories for a week or so and then i got switched to POI b/c the suppositories were bothering me (mainly b/c i just got off 7 days of Ultrasound in a row, plus retrieval & transfer, i think my body wanted nothing down there!!) But they only put me on 1cc of POI. I do however think it probably made a difference this time. Last time my number was 42 for first beta and this time it was over 1500. I know that my first cycle right before my retrieval, my estrogen dropped randomly right before so they made me do an extra shot of Gonal F just to up my numbers. She wasn't too concerned at the time b/c everything else had looked good. My RE is great and I trust her 100%. I think this time she just wanted me on the max, just in case. When I test i'm never even told my progesterone or estrogen numbers. I'm only told when it seems to be a concern. (which I think is good!)

I so agree with that tlink. There are no guarantees, that is why the success rates are still down there around 50%, and usually the docs are pretty good at reminding you of that. I experienced that the hard way as well with my first IVF cycle, which was textbook perfect and the embryo they transferred was a perfect high-graded 5-day blastocyst. They gave me a really good prognosis and everyone was very optimistic. Despite that I didn't get pregnant that cycle and it was BFN. It just isn't a sure shot, unfortunately even with the best circumstances...

Angie and cherllyn- I am so sorry. Be strong, i know its easier said than done. Wishing you both good luck for future.
I hope everyone else is doing good? Hoping to hear about some BFP's in this group..
AFM- Doing good, morning sickness has kicked in and is pretty bad at the moment.. Lemon drops is something thats keeping me going...
I called my RE about checking my p4 levels again and he said, i dont need to get it checked again as i am on regular PIO shots but since i insisted so on the day of my ultrasound which is thursday, they will check it( that makes me feel good)
I have a question about Progesterone. I will be moved to my Regular OBGYN after 9th week and i am supposed to continue with PIO till 13 weeks(currently i am at 6w4d) and my OBGYN said she wants me to start with Progesterone suppositories starting 16th week till the end of my preg so i dont go into preterm labor(like i did last time) I am wondering from 13th week to 16th week i will be on no progesterone, that is a concern for me. Should i tell my OBGYN to start the suppositories right frm 13 week or is it ok if i wait till 16th week? Also are progesterone suppositories as good as PIO shots?
Cant wait for thursday, it seems so far and u/s is at 3pm, so basically i have to wait all of thursday aswell...lol.. This waiting game is kinda crazyy..
Good luck to rest of you for the upcoming Beta's and ultrasounds

I am so sorry Lovely. I expected a higher number too but ya know the tests we use these days are so sensitive they can pick up very low levels of hcg. Everything could be perfectly fine but I know that sick feeling (((hugs)))
