Flying with injectibles!! Anyone experience this?

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on here but I've been reading everyone elses posts until I had something worth posting about. I think I've found it!

We are leaving tomorrow for a vacation and I have to start my Lupron while we are away. I have called the airline regarding their policy and they said as long as I have the original rx label I'll be fine. I do have that, but my question is should I risk them losing it and check it in with my other luggage, or carry it on and risk them frisking me and questioning me about it in front of MIL? My dh would die if his mom found out we are going through this!! Any thoughts anyone? Yikes!

Thanks, and let's have a ton of BFP's!!

    Aahh Tricky,

I personally would put it in my handluggage (check with the airline first). Always have a Docs letter or receipt stating that these drugs are for fertility tx.

You may not get frisked, but if you do, ask to go to a separate area away from other passengers...just say that you would rather not have all the contents of your luggage on show for all and sundry. Your DH can distract you MIL for awhile.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck to you too.

I flew several times with injectibles in my carry on luggage. Security screeners never even asked about it. Good Luck.

I have flown with PIO and the huge needles that go with it. I put it in my checked luggage, just so I wouldn't have to deal with it if my bag got searched. Everything was fine.

    Injection

I carried them right on board. You almost should have them with you incase they lose your luggage...

I put my lupron vial and one or two syringes in my purse and put extra needles in the suitcase.....figuring if the luggage got lost, I could surely find somewhere to give me some needs/syrringes.....

You'll be fine no matter what----I think your bigger challenge is keeping it from your MIL than the airport!

    Vegasbaby,
I'm a flight attendant,& I've traveled with my meds & needles before. 99.5% of the time the TSA screeners won't even question you about the meds or needles. However there will always be that 1 screener(.5%) who may ask you about them. As long as the prescripton label with your name is present, you shouldn't have a problem. Just do as KAYJAY said, ask to be searched in a separate secluded area while DH distract MIL
Whatever you do,MAKE SURE YOU CARRY ALL YOUR MEDS IN YOUR CARRY ON BAG,DON'T CHECK THEM. A bunch of ticketed bags tend to go MIA during holiday season.
    Enjoy you vacation!

I just flew to vegas with my lupron & needles. I placed them in a clear makeup bag with my other meds in my handbag. I also brought my ins card, the reciepts for the meds and my dr contact info. I had no problem, no one blinked an eye. have a great trip.

    Thanks to all you ladies!!

I did put them in my carry on luggage and had no problems. Sailed right through security without questions! We all had a nice time in Hawaii but now it's time to get back into ttc. I started my lupron and am now on day 8 with no sign of af as of yet!

    Thanks again!
