    Question 48 Hour bedrest

Do your RE's suggest a 48 hour bedrest after transfer? My RE wants me to have 48 hours of bedrest with only bathroom breaks. I was just wondering if this is the norm. I really thought most doctors have gotten away from that.

    TIA,

    Kelly

My RE used to ask for transfer day +3 days. Now it's transfer day +2 days. But they call it home rest now. And I can sit in a recliner or couch, but try to lye on my back or side getting up to do the bare minimum. It think for most people this is impossible. I know that a lot of dr. only require bedrest for 24 hours.

My experience was bed rest the day of the transfer and 2 days after. Then, i could go back to work and regular activities. My doc did advise to avoid lifting and moderate to heavy exercise for the 2WW, as well.

My RE also requires 3 full days of bedrest getting up to eat/bathroom breaks & showers only, (t/f day is day 0).
I'm going to try & follow it so we picked a t/f day of Thursday , So I'll have
Friday, Saterday & Sunday while DH is @ home taking care of the kids & ME!
Last time I did get up & do more then I was told I should. This time I'm
totally taking advantage, DH will finally understand how much work it is to take care of our 2!

My RE only goes for 24 hours of bedrest. I could have returned to work the next day. But since my transfer was on a Thursday, I stayed on the couch as much as possible that day and the following day...and took it pretty easy the 3rd day. The embryologist told us he thought they would latch on between 2-3 days so I was as careful as I could be during that stretch and I crossed my fingers.

My RE says day of transfer plus two. For my March cycle I followed 100%. Showered in like 3 minutes! The problem is when you have to eat, go to the restroom and you run out of time! He told me only 5 minutes out of every hour was acceptable to be up and about. Anyhow, I got a BFN so go figure! My FET xfr is 5/27 and I will behave and abide by his rule 100% again.

Good luck and if you don't have a laptop, I highly recommend it! I believe it make my time fly.

First and foremost, I think everyone should follow their RE's advice......that's what we're paying them for!

With that said, I wish I could find the article I read about this (I can't, DANG IT!) but there is not sufficient evidence that supports the theory of bedrest according to many opinions out there. The embryo's will either implant or they won't-----likely regardless of what we do or don't do. However, with this journey of ups and downs, I know we'll all (including me) not take any chances and we'll buy in to any theories out there (i.e., the pineapple thing, etc.) if there's even a HINT of a chance that it might work.

My RE wants one day of "taking it easy" following the transfer day, then back to normal, except for strenuous exercise. And, for the day following the transfer, she just says "take it easy"....not strict bedrest.

    Ask 100 people----get 100 answers!!

Happy MOther's day to those of you who are mother's.....and for the rest of us, it is my hope that we'll get to celebrate this day next year!!

My RE has 48 hours of taking it easy. The clinic says bedrest. I can go to the potty but no showers. In consensus, just go slow and no sky diving, rocky mountain climbing, no 2.7 seconds on a bull named Foo-Man Chu (thank you Tim McGraw - LOL). I say rent a bunch of videos, pick-up the book you meant to finish and taking those naps. Just be good to yourself.

My RE wanted me on bedrest for 48 hours also. We just bought a laptop that morning so I was good to go. My DH was way strict about me stayinin bed also. He wouldn't let me do a thing. Even after the bedrest was over he was still making sure I didn't do anything!!!!!
