Hi guys!
Well, I've pulled my head out of the sand for a bit. After a failed fet last month I've been a little numb. Now I need your help, please.
What is the purpose of Medrol/methyprednisolone for your FETs? I know what the drug is and that it has many functions but I'm not quite sure the purpose for FET. My RE does not include that in his protocol. I didn't do it last time, so of course, I'm wearing myself out wondering if that had anything to do with my bfn.
I appreciate any feedback and wish you all the best of the best blessings!!!
hugs,
Debbie

Debbie,
I have used Medrol with all my FET's but we do use AH (assisted hatching). It's supposed to help keep the body from rejecting the embryo or at least that's what my RE told me. I have also heard that it has something to do with using AH.
I would ask your RE about it and what he would use it for.Me (38), DH (39)

Hey Myra,
Thanks so much for the reply. We did AH this past cycle...geesh, I wished I'd done the medrol. Did you do the dosepack thing? When did you start it? I have one of them on ice...believe it or not it was REfrozen now at blast stage. It's practically hatched out...amazing. I had asked my RE nurse after the fact and she wasn't sure about the use of medrol...said RE doesn't include that in his protocols. Maybe he should check into it??? Oh, btw, I've congratulated you a while ago but let me please say again I'm soooo thrilled for you and wish you the best with your babies (that is 2 heart beats right???)...You go girl!
Anyone else with input, I greatly appreciate it!!!
thank you,
Debbie

Debbie,
I took it for four or five days, I can't remember right now. I started it around the time I started the PIO shots and took the last pill the day of transfer. It was one pill a day but again I don't remember the mg dosage.
I would definately ask him about this again. I even took it with my fresh IVF's because we used AH then too. If you ask about it on the IVF board I believe that you will find that most women using AH take it. One of them may have a dosage for you.
Thanks again. Yes, so far so good with both babies. Don't let your RE tell you that multiples is practically a non issue with an FET like I did. I transferred three embryos and all three took but one stopped developing.Me (38), DH (39)

Debbie,
I've done two FETs, with two different REs, and only took the Medrol for one of them, however, both FETs worked. On the cycle that we used it, I took 4 tablets/day beginning two days prior to the transfer and ending the day after. My RE also said it's to help your body NOT reject the embryos.
Good luck!
Hugs,

Sirell
