I can refer you to an excellent RE in NYC. Dr. Steven Spandorfer at Center for Reproductive Medicine at Cornell. Many girls from LI travel to Cornell! I highly recommend him and the entire clinic!!!

Let me know if you'd like any additional info.

Jen

Ronnie,
I don't know first hand about REs in NYC or on Long Island. However, based on the Center for Disease Control statistics, Cornell is one of the best clinics in country (some might argue the best). I don't know, but I am planning to move there if my next FET doesn't work.

The main thing I wanted to say to you though is this: I drive about an hour and half to my clinic right now and the trip will be longer if I have to move to Cornell. But, I'm glad to do it in exchange for the peace of mind that comes with knowing that I am at a really first rate clinic. Honestly, if you think about the number of times that you really have to go to the clinic during a cycle, the emotional and financial costs of a cycle and so on, the extra travel time may start to look like a small price to pay. Maybe not, but I just wanted to share my experience and point of view on this with you in case you hadn't considered it. Also, you can often do some of the monitoring at a local clinic if necessary.

One problem with Cornell though is that the clinic itself (but not the docs) is "out of network" for all insurances. So, you would have to pay for the clinic's share of the cycle costs up front and then apply for insurance reimbursement if you have some coming. If you are self-pay, this makes no differance.
Welcome to NY!!
Karen

Thanks for the wish of luck. At this point, I really need it. I agree about the ugh on paying out of pocket at Cornell. I can do it, but I won't enjoy it. I'm fortunate to have really great insurance that covers all this crap, so the $$$ stress has been really minimal so far. My final costs should still be fairly reasonable at Cornell, but I'll have to have god knows how much "money" sitting around to pay for stuff and wait for reimbursement. Oh well, most people go through much worse in regard to paying for all this.... If (when) I get a better idea of exactly how much of the cycle costs are "out of network" I can let you know if you are interested.

Keep in touch.
Karen
