I have to jump in since my story is the same![]()
We did one fresh cycle when I was 35yrs and ended up with 24 pn embryos that were all frozen. I have done 5 FETs and have a 3yr and 1yr old currently pg with #3. We were hoping our last FET was our LAST. We thawed all 5 that were left hoping they would do their thing and no decisions had to be made. We grew them to day 3 and transferred the best 2. Watched the others. I made a call at day 5 and 2/3 were still kicking but the nurse told me that she didn't think they would make it to refreeze the next day (day 6). Well Monday I called and was told 2 perfect embryos were refrozen at blast. I am 40yrs old pg with #3 and I will be bringing home those last 2 as soon as I can. It is such a hard decision but I look at my children and know in my heart there is no other decision for me.

I could really use some encouragement. I have been going through this cycle for 8 years. TTC for 3 years with no success. Went onto have 7 IUI's, and 2 IVF Cycles due to unexplained infertility. I finally have 1 DS on the 2nd fresh cycle of IVF. My son is now 3. We started trying aging when DS was 1. I went back for another fresh cycle in 2007 and only produced 1 egg!!!! I couldn't believe it. All of the money that I spent and the hopes of giving my son a sibling was shattered as I was out of money.I had surgery last September for Endometriosis when I went to a New RE. I recently found finally a grant program that allowed me to go through another cycle, and last Tuesday it was cancelled as I actually ovulated through the cycle. I am devastated. I have now been diagnosed with Poor Ovarian Reserve, as well as Poor Egg Quality. From my very first IVF cycle I have 1 frozen blast and know that this is my last and finaly hope for a child as I am financially drained and do not have IVF Coverage. I am petrified to do a FET as I know that this is really the end. With it being frozen, I feel there is hope. If I use it and the cycle fails, I then have to come to grips that my son will be an only child and I don't think I can handle that. Has any one had a Successful FET with a single frozen Embryo? What are the chances that it will even make the thaw? I am so scared and devastated I don't know what to do.

Hope!
Hi, Diana! I know that the thaw survival rates vary from practice to practice, but for a good blast are generally 70-80%. Our group has a success rate of per blast fet of about 40%.
But, those numbers don't mean anything! They just distract you! All you can really do is be as ready as you can physically, as positive and well as you can emotionally, and hope! We transferred one blast in 2007, and it split into identical girls, so how's that for a success? We transfer one and end up with two! Keep hoping! And if it doesn't work out, there are other ways of giving your son a sibling...try to be at peace, it's all you can really do.
Good luck!

ShanniJ,
I absolutely hear you and it feels so good to read about someone else who feels the same way I have come to feel. We have 1 daughter ("naturally" conceived), twins from our 3rd fresh IVF cycle, and twins from a frozen blast from that same cycle. We are getting ready to do another transfer on Sunday and have 3 embies left, frozen one in a vial and two in a separate vial. Since I have five children, I have moments of being overwhelmed and scared, but overall I feel like I will be blessed with however many of those I get to meet and know, and realize I can't take a single one for granted, I might end up with no more, and that will be heartbreaking, I want to know those little ones. Good luck to you, I applaud you for taking on the responsibility of honoring those little embryos and all that they can be!

FET stuff
Marguerita! So happy to hear your stories as I am gearing up for an FET in about 4 weeks. I have kids 18, 15, 13 and (2-embryo IVF cycle) twins who will be a year old on 5/16. We have two embabies left and we are going for it, knowing for us there is no alternative! I just wonder how many babies we are going to get this time! I am excited and terrified at the same time!
I am so interested that you have two sets of twins. How far apart are they in age, and how many embies did you transfer in each case? How is it with two sets of multiples? I need hope! LOL!
So are you implanting all three this weekend?
Diana- I wish you all the best and pray for your little totsicle to make a sweet sibling for your little boy!
Shannij- thanks for sharing, and more power to you with all those babies!!
REA- wow, five under five, you're an inspiration!! I hope I can pull it off if thats whats in store for me! I really appreciate/empathise with your attitude about those embies!
mtmom-good luck, my next and last cycle will be all natural, no meds at all. Its so strange after going through IVF to do it this way!
michie, how did it go last month?
I wish you all the best and just have faith that you will be able to handle whatever God gives you! Children are SUCH a blessing!

LoriSue-
we transferred 2 blasts in '04 and ended up with b/g twins (full term). We froze 5 blasts from that cycle. We had a morula from a disastrous cycle from '03. We thawed the one blast frozen individually in a medicated cycle that was bfn. We thawed (different clinic, different state) one of the vials of 2 blasts, one survived, and was even hatching when transferred, it split and we now have beautiful identical girls. So, we have two blasts and 1 morula left. Needless to say, I am excited and terrified, too! I totally get that! We've already maxed out our Odyssey! But at the same time, I feel if I can have faith and embrace the life we have before us, it will all be just as it should be! I really am so curious about those little ones, and could not feel okay with any other "choice."
We'll try the morula first, because we think it has the least chance, it's been frozen the longest, and it might not survive and grow. We will welcome any babies from those 3 frozen ones, but we have five kids under 7 and we are moving out of the country, and would like to know where we stand when we move, if possible. If not, if the morula implants, then that will be a huge positive from a terribly negative cycle, and technically that baby will be "older" than our 4 year old twins! Because of my age (31) and our success so far, and the chance of embies splitting we wouldn't transfer more than two, and even that makes me very nervous, but I cannot feel okay refreezing, knowing that the trauma might be too much for them, and might kill them. So on Sunday morning, we'll find out if the morula survived and developed. If not, then we'll find out if one or both of the blasts survived, so we know what we're transferring. I can hardly believe it's happening, it feels so surreal! Plus we, too, are doing a "natural cycle" FET. I am doing PIO shots, simply b/c I do want it to work, and my RE says it only does good things, makes my uterus "stickier," without manipulating the rest of my normal cycle. Our issues are male factor. There you go! That's our whole history (it's ridiculous, but there's actually so much more, we should all write books on the subject!)...if you hung in there, I'd love to hear what you think of it all and any advice you might have! Good luck!

Too scared to act just yet
Hi all. I am new to the board but reading your posts have helped me realize dreams can come true. i just wonder will it happen to us. Thank you for posting all the awesome success stories. I just completed my second IVF cycle with a surrogate and am nervous to push on to our first FET cycle. Our first IVF ended in an ectopic and second was a BFN. We froze two embryos, one is a 5BB and the other is a 4BB. The embryologist told us they were okay, not that great for FET cycle, especially sense the thawing can be so hard on them. I want to act soon to try again but am so nervous. I think about it all the time. We would love to do another fresh cycle but am officially out of money. This is our last shot at this. By the way I do have a 5 year old son. We have no idea how I conceived him on my own with severe PCOS. I have a surrogate now because I had a hysterectomy from his birth. Keep posting thaose great stories.

Hi Luke's princess! I have always had more luck with FET's. I had two blasts with about your ratings, and I am expecting twin boys now, any day! The great thing about FET's is that they can get your lining just perfect. I felt that the timing was always a little off with my fresh cycles.
Marguerita - good to hear an update from you! I don't know if you remember me, but you were very encouraging to me after my second failed fresh cycle. Good luck with your upcoming FET!
Best,

Sage2
Sage2,
Do remember what your grading was on those two embryos? I can't tell if my Dr. is afraid to get our hopes up this time around or if the chances of a baby coming out of this thing is really possible.
He gave us a 10%-50% chance of it working and highly doubted that we would get twins. And that is if they made the thaw. I have sad little embryos. Most of them died off before transfer and before we could freeze them. He is encouraging us to do donor eggs but there is no way we could afford that now. I really appreciate your great news of your babies. I am very excited for you.

Thank you so much everyone for sharing. I had no hope of my FET working but maybe, just maybe, it will. We have 4 frozen blasts.
