Foster parents rights and kinship subsidies

Is there a length of time that foster parents have to be able to have legal standing in adopting their foster children?
Also, if children are placed in a kinship placement, not TPRed, should the kins be able to receive foster care money. Thanks. Robin

It is my understanding that once a foster child has been in your home for 1 year you have legal standing to hire an attorney and try to adopt the child(ren). I don't know that this would always be the route to go but I think after a year you can legally try to adopt.

I don't know how kinship placements work. That's a good question. Hopefully someone can answer it for you.

I had a kinship placement turn into an adoption but if I wanted to get paid monthly I had to take foster parenting classes.. and that is what we did.. Now that the girls are adopted we still get money monthly for them..

hope this helps

Foster Parents Rights depend from state to state

Ditto with Patience on changing Kinship to Fostering.
